Hi,
I have a stupid problem with my little Mini. I opened the door, to change the battery. Then I want to look the door, but that doesnt worked. The little magnet wasn't there. My luck: I found the magnet sticking at the battery. I put the magnet back in to its little hole. But:

I did it in wrong side. Now my Mini is opening itself and can't be closed. How will I get the magnet out of its hole?

Do you have a solvent around for the glue you used? Don't use heat to break the glue free...it can destroy the magnetic properties of the magnet. Soak your door in some solvent for about 15 minutes then use another stronger magnet to pull this one out of the door.

Sounds like something I'd do, so I'm laughing with you, not at you! I have no idea, but hopefully will be along soon with suggestions to help you get this magical opening act under control....

Turn the door around and put the magnet by the one on the body. See if they is enough pull to pop it out. Or if you have a stronger magnet you could try that.

ah....okay, so if it isn't stuck in the hole, you should be able to coax it out by using a piece of metal or another magnet. You could also try placing it in the freezer for an hour then try another magnet or piece of metal to pull it out.

for future reference....when replacing the magnet on the door, in order to ensure you're getting the magnet in the correct way, try this:

with the door off, take the free magnet and place against the magnet on the mod. Using a Sharpie or permanent black marker, place a dot on the side of the magnet that is exposed or facing away from the other magnet. When you are ready to put it back on the door, make sure to place it dot side in.

I would put the dot on, then forget if the dot side went in or out!!!! So, I would have to put the magnet on the other magnet then place it against the body! I am weird!!! But I must do things different or I do crazy stuff!

Tried the whole evening. but I can't pull the magnet out. Tomorrow I will go to a hardware store, looking for a monster magnet!

So I'll add that most folks wouldn't want to look at the dot....so you want to hide it by placing it against the door.

I did the same thing and lost the 50/50 bet when I placed the magnet in backwards just to see if it would stay in without glue and it got stuck in there. Mine was one in the door of my grand. I banged the door against the inside, soft part of my car door handle and the magnet flew out and I found it in my driveway. Maybe try and find something soft enough that will protect the finish to bang it against, but hard enough to make the magnet come out from the impact. Hope this helps.

Fixed it provisionally with tape, but it looks really ugly

Try putting a small piece of felt behind the battery, that should hold the door tight in it's tracks and may work.

I would probably walk into the room to fix the magnet, but then forget why I walked into the room in the first place.
