I figured I'd start a new thread because I just got my Reo Grand from the classies. Woohoo! As expected, it's beautiful. I'm really impressed by the combination of how simple and sturdy the construction is.

Unfortunately I've got to put it on the shelf for a bit, until I can truly judge it. Because I bought it used it only came with one tube and bottle, and they have clearly been loved and used a LOT because I can still taste the old juice in it. So I'm going to have to order a new bottle/tube kit. Also I didn't order an RM2 ahead of time, so all I could try on it are the super shorty 1.7 ohm cartos. Not a bad vape, but since I haven't touched a carto in over a year and got used to clearos and atties, these cartos are way too tight and kind of muted. C'est la vie. I'll have to place an order for some bits and bobs from Rob, and then give the Reo another whirl. Still, I'm very happy I have it.

Now I'm off to play with my rda and try to get used to cotton, to practice for the RM2. (Using cotton really makes me anxious because of how quickly it can burn up, so I am constantly taking off the top cap and looking at the wick. I need to get over that.)

Welcome to the ville, machinestatic! Just a thought, but I seem to remember that some of the juice makers ship their juices in the exact same bottle the REO uses. You also can try boiling the bottle and tube for a few minutes, that might get rid of the "ghost" flavor.

And take heart, using a carto on a REO, instead of an RM2, is sort of like taking a test drive by starting the car, then turning the engine back off. It's good, but you haven't even BEGUN to discover what a REO can do!

lil tip you can hide a bit of cotton up by the tube inside the mod to deal with over toasted wicks

to Reoville machinestatic. I think you have a great looking reo there. You may try to soak the tube in some Everclear. Fill the bottle up with it and make sure you run some Everclear from the tube to the atomizer. It may help. Either way just a tiny inconvenience compared the awesomeness of the reo. Congrats and Welcome to Reoville. I always end up burning cotton and hate the taste. So I run ceramic 2mm wicks from ReadxWick. Last months can handle a dry hit without killing you, I dry burn it to clean and keep going.

Nice looking Reo there! If your RDA is less than around 14mm in diameter it should fit on your new Reo. Then you can dial in your coil to suit the Reo too. Or maybe that's what you meant anyway. Taking the cap off to check the wick for wetness is a quick way to learn what's going on. After a while, it becomes instinctive, and the taste changes just a bit before it dries out. But its easy to miss it too, hence the saying, "if in doubt - squonk." Especially true if you own two Reo's and you just pick the other one up and have no idea how much juice is on the wick.

Glad you know better not to judge until you have a complete set up. Can't wait to hear what you think after a new tube and the RM2! Also....if you havent tried KGD cotton yet, it's awesome. Only time I've gotten a dry hit was when I completely spaced squonking when I first got my REO....LOLOL

You most certainly do not have to use micro coils + cotton. I actually prefer my silica based "Ugly Coil" any day of the week.
