I had no trouble getting the cone out using round-nose jewelry pliers. The jaws are smooth so it doesn't scratch the cone.
If it's a matter of attempting to make them more disposable, they are doing it wrong. After the v2 stone with its bad wicking/flooding/leaking, the cyclones that arrived leaking (one leaked its entire contents within an hour without even being screwed on to a battery), and the new "improved" stardusts that either arrived with cracks or started cracking soon after being used... I have to say, I am not inspired to spend money on replacements or be a tester for updated versions of these products :-(
I love my stardust and I'm going to be really sad when one of the cracks become large enough to make it leak, which probably won't take much longer at the rate it's going. But I probably won't buy another until there's a version that isn't so faulty. I wish I hadn't missed out on the originals. I realize that they don't cost a lot, but I just can't justify buying something that is so unreliable. I'm happy for the people that are happy with the ones that are as advertised. I will just be sticking with these stellar vision extremes and the one fluxo that survived my clumsy attempts to mod it. At least until a version of these or the stones come out that get better reviews.
Oh, and I have a hard time believing that the manufacturer didn't know these things were cracking so much during their testing.

your talking about a batch of 1000 that is long gone plus whatever others recieved which also is form old batches in early februaury, THe lR and the new ones are many many batches later.
i got some wick and coil in rob, so you and others can mess around with them if youd like
i would but i don't think i have the hands for it, i did try at one point to rewrap the coil like seen in the russian video and it was a mess. so unless its dumbed down to where my 2 year old could do, i don't think i'm going to attempt that![]()
I don't remove anything, I just wash and then dry burn in 5 second bursts until I can see the coil glow BUT will I still be able to see the coil glow through this elongated tube?
I just cleaned my new one and YES you can still see the coil glow.
