Hello!

I want to make the transition to vape from analogs. I tried once by picking up a BLU starter kit and I quickly went back to analogs after about 4 days because the draw and "throat hit" was rather dissatisfying and weak. Since then I've had a few co-workers tell me I should get a more sohpisticated device that can give me what i'm looking for. I've spent that last few days looking at devices and it's come down to 3 models.

Provari - This seems to be the best of the bunch in regards to reviews I've seen and the people I know who own one say they're the best one they've ever used. It's a very pricey device and I think it's kind of ugly, so I'm not entirely sold on making that big of a leap as my budget for this is about $150.00.

Segelei ZMAX V5 - I really like the look of this model, and I've seen many reviews say it's a step below the Provari and works really well. However I hear this thing breaks really easy if it is dropped. I'm not an accident prone person, but I do have dogs/cats that are notorious for knocking things off of surfaces. I can find a kit for about 100 bucks after shipping, but it doesnt come with a battery or any juice. So after everything is bought, it looks like I'm spending about $130-140.

Volcano Lavatube - We have a vendor here for this model. Looks nice, it's a bit chubby and doesnt look to include all of the same features as the other two, but people say that it's sold and can take a drop or two and is a good way to get started. I can get a a complete kit for about 140.00 at the local vendor here. One thing that bothers me is that these come from the same people who make BLU, and as stated I did not have any luck with them.

Are there other factors that I should looking at? I am pretty new to this and have been lurking these forums for about 3 days now.

I'm a moderate smoker. 2-5 during the work week and 0-7 on the weekends depending on how much drinking I do. A pack usually lasts me 10-14 days. My wife and I have started going to the gym again after a 2 year hiatus and my lungs are not what they were then due to a decade of smoking and an extra 30 lbs. Plus, it would be wonderful not to have to listen to her complain about dat stank from the camels....

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond. I'm just looking for some other deciding factors to help me make the best decision.

A pack lasts 10-14 days? Whoa. Well, good on you. I've got a couple of itaste devices, one being the itaste MVP, for $60.00, the other being an itaste SVT (or similar name?) for $80, plus more outlay for batteries and charger, and they both work great. I can blow clouds with them. I quit my pack-a-day cigarette habit a month ago. I think $150 is a reasonable entry level. Good luck to you with the vaping!

Hi and welcome!

I don't have any experience with a Lavatube, but I have a Sigelei Zmax (although not in the same body style as the V5). I like the Sigelei very much for a device in it's class. It has a much more substantial feel to it than the Vamo, which is similar. Have you looked at the iTaste MVP? It is a box shaped mod, but is getting very good reviews. It also has an internal battery, so you would not have to buy a charger or extra batteries.

I second the MVP vote. It very durable, it's reliable, it looks good, the size and form are wonderful, and the battery life is insane.

The thing is, I've gone through multiple VAMOs and eGos and other devices. The MVP beats all of them in reliability except for my Sigelei mechanical, but that's not really a fair comparison. Innokin actually just generally makes quality products. I would buy a second MVP in a heartbeat if I wanted another VV/VW device.

The only downside to the MVP is it wont go up to 6 volts or 15 watts, but it isn't really necessary for most people. My MVP has sat on either 4 or 4.2 volts for months.

If a pack of smokes last that long...then perhaps an eGo setup? Unless you really want a mod. If you're thinking Provari : maybe check out the provape-1 as well. Less money and not as bulky. Plus replacement batteries are very cheap. Normally I would second the MVP, because that's my back up. I have an older version, and I am not so sure about V2. Z max is reasonable in price and has a pretty loyal following. Have you read many reviews on the Lava Tube? It's kind of costly for what it is. On the plus side you get cool colors.

Thanks for the info everyone. It looks like I didn't look hard enough. The MVP and eGo's both look solid. Now I'm starting to sway towards the MVP. Yeah, a pack can last me that long when/if I don't have to bum them out to friends. I love the feel of smoking and I really enjoy tobacco with some whiskey during the weekends. However with winter here and some health reasons, I'm just starting to find cigarette/cigar use to be less than ideal at this point.

Someone at work just mentioned Lava Tube and they said it works really well, but it's overpriced when you could have so many more features for less and that I should be patient.

Im going to do some more digging into these suggestions and probably make a purchase soon. Thanks to everyone who responded and gave me some direction. I'll try to follow up with what I decide to buy.

I just bought an itaste vv v3.0 on tuesday afternoon and so far i am really enjoying it to the fullest. I got it from Vape City Chicago in skokie close to my house for $50.63 and I got it with 2 bottles of liquid and an upgraded tank. it lasts all day and doesn't have any leakage issues like my other ego did. the leakage issues with the tank on my ego was the reason i gave up vaping, decided to see what this store had since it is like 3 blocks from my house and so far very happy i went in there on tuesday afternoon. got there just in time too since they were closing at 3 pm cst for Christmas eve. went in there around 2 pm and they still were very willing to show me what they had available and listened to what my main concern was and that was about tank leakage. showed me the itaste vv v3.0 with the upgraded tank and the employee told me he has been using one for a while even though it is the older version with the better tank and never had any leaks. today is day 2 and it works perfect.

I would suggest either and MVP or 2 Joyetech Twist batteries, depending on what form factor you would prefer. Both have variable voltage to give you lots of room to play with different clearos, atties, or whatever. You really don't smoke enough to need more.

Here are a few possibilities:
Innokin iTaste MVP V2.0 - 101 Vape
Innokin iTaste VV (V3) Express kit - 101 Vape
Spinner/Twist Combo

For the amount you smoke, that's very solid advice. Also, I think if I were smoking pack/week I'd get the lowest nic levels I could, otherwise I'd prob. get a wicked buzz off anything higher... Hmm. well, maybe I would get some 24mg stuff...

I'd say the mvp2 is a good buy as well. It has variable wattage and variable voltage, wattage just makes it easier if you have different resistance atomizers, but like vaping a liquid at a certain setting. Less messing around. Plus it has a resistance checker, which you may not care about now, but eventually I can almost bet you will. It works great with the iclear 30 which is included, and my evods. Now if I could just get coil building down my rba's and rda's would be amazing :p

I love my MVP I have 2 of them and I also have the VTR. My cell phone was dead the other night so I plugged it into my MVP and it charged my cell phone. I was impressed!!

Welp. I ended up taking your advice with the MPV 2.0. should arrive soon. Funny thing is when I got home my wife bought me a ZMAX v5, a Kanger protank 2.0, and a couple of low nicotine juices as a belated xmas present and to support the idea of quitting analogs. I'm thinking of giving one to my friend who is thinking about quitting with me. Anywho thanks for the suggestions, you guys saved me a TON of money. Great forums.

Cheers.

EDIT:

If you smoke that little you might as well just give up.

My goal was to never quit smoking, just to move off the analogs. Like I said in the earlier post I enjoy smoking, but for health/hygiene reasons I don't want to use the dirties anymore.

Keep it as a back up since last thing you want is one packing up and not being able to vape.

you dont smoke much so you dont need one of those big devices! a small mechanical mod with a cartomizer should work just fine for your purposes and will be more discreet and look better too. 14500 is the battery size youll want. super t makes a very nice 14500 mod but they are out of stock right now, they are regularly in stock though.

I second this. Unless you know a basic deal about ohms, resistance, watts, and volts I would stick to something a little less fancy to get your feet wet before you spend over $100 IMO.

Evod batteries are a great start, maybe throw a protank or a T3S on it and bam your ready to go and it all cost under $40. Great basic taste and throat hit way better than any BLU cig could get you, 100% better. But if your have the dough then get a provari and read up alittle; then eventually get yourself a mechmod and RDAs and RBAs. Catch the bug and eventually you will forget all about analogs.

Vape on buddy! ;)
