New to vaping, looking for guidance

Hello from Mississippi!
I've been smoking for four years, Marlboro Menthol Lights, and I don't have any desire to quit, but for health reasons and the fact that my boyfriend HATES the smell (plus I just bought new work clothes that I don't want to burn holes in!) I'm looking at vaping.
My dad, a smoker for decades, has a standard model that looks just like a cigarette that he ordered - the box doesn't have the exact model, I looked, but it was difficult for me to draw off of, and I didn't like it very much.
I've been doing my research (looking at these forums for days now) and I was ALMOST convinced I wanted the Blu starter kit (I like the look and the idea of having a charger pack) but I saw that people have had some bad experiences with them, and I want something that I can refill with liquid safely. I've also read all the beginner's info stickies and I know (sort of) what I want, I just would really like some direct suggestions and guidance from experienced vapers.
The things I know I want:
visually, something appealing. I like the black models, with shaped mouthpieces - NOT something that is colored like a cigarette, although I do want something shaped and a similar size to a standard cigarette (slightly longer is ok, no more than 2x the length)
not too much throat hit - although I may change my mind about this later, I thought the model my dad had was really harsh on my throat and I'd like something a little milder...
not particular about vapor production - sure, it looks cool, but I'm more interested in flavor
I really like the fact that the Blu kit comes with the pack charger. As I said before, that was the biggest selling point for me at the time.
Under $100 for my first set, preferable between $60-$80. I am a college student and my job, though rewarding, pays next to nothing.

I'm sort of waffling between the Janty Dura-C set and the DSE901 from The Smokeless shop. I've almost completely decided against the Blu, because of things I've read on this forum.

Pluses of the Dura-C that I like
- says you can drip on the atomizer, which I take to mean that if liquid gets on it it won't be kaput
- inexpensive
- manual (note that I don't really have a preference about this, but from what I read in a thread, manual is the way to go?)

The DSE901
- comes with juice & syringe
- I really like the design/shape

neither comes with a mobile charger (and considering I am ALWAYS on the go that's a major negative) and I may end up getting the Blu anyway. I'm having a rough time making the decision because I want to get something that I like the first go-round, and then experiment with the money I save from not buying analogs.

So, um... any advice? Experiences with either the vendors or models I'm looking at that you'd like to share with a noob?

Joye510 Manual kit + PCC (charger case) kit from libertyecig.com $92 total, choices of color and battery, also has decent liquids. You'd get a total of 3 batteries and attys, 1 charger, 8 empty carts with filler and the charging case for on the go. Best deal out there, IMO, unless you go to a Chinese company.

High Voltage e-liquid from nhaler.com to upgrade your liquid

That would be a great starter for you!

x 2 vote for 510.. i got mine from cignot and i love it... BUT i do like a bit more of the tickle in the back of the throat and lots of "smoke". It works great for me and the charger cases you can find for 23$ or so.. so you'd be into it about 60$.

I've also heard that the 901 is excellent also. If you like more flavor and less vapor. Now im still a noob at 5 days but i smoked about 30 analogs a day and since i got my 510 i've only had two. and that was days ago.
Im a noob but did loads of research so if there anything i can help you with just send me a PM.. GOOD LUCK you will love it!

Mwahaha. Ok. So I have ordered the 510 starter kit. ... And now I have to wait for it to arrive? No fair!

I still want a 901, but I'm going to give the 510 a try.

I have at least four friends who really want to test drive my ecig, so if I don't like it, one of them might - and at least I'll know.

That 510kit with the PCC at cignot is a great sale price! Good job!

Seriously though - check out Drew's High Voltage liquids at Nhaler for the BEST flavor and vapor!

Oh, thanks, I definitely will... I was looking at the site everyone in juice reviews was raving about - Dawn or something from Las Vegas makes them - but she's out and I was wondering whether the five prefilled carts would last me very long... I also got ECOpure 3ml, Menthol, 24mg Nicotine and some Pure USP VG and Distlled Water 10ml (ECOmix) to cut it with (24 mg nic is too much for me I think, but idk) for the free with my order... but I wanna be sure I have some next week, don't want to be forced to rely on analogs if I run out!

you can get a pcc for a 901. I think you have to purchase it separately though. I saw it on a website, but I can't remember which one it was. Just google dse901 pcc and you should come across it. You can also drip on the 901 attys. I have a 901 and that is what I do now. It is sooo much easier than messing with carts. From what I have read, if you want lots of flavor the 901 is the way to go. I know that I get tons of flavor with mine, but I haven't tried the 510 yet so I can't compare. I hope you enjoy your purchase, and maybe you can get a 901 down the road!
