I made the big leap from an Ego to a Stealth and Odysseus almost three weeks ago. I'd heard there was a learning curve...I'd heard it was a bit steep...I didn't expect to feel like a complete ..... while "climbing the curve", but I certainly did.

First problem; building a coil that actually worked. That ate through almost all of my initial supply of wire and wick. I finally got one that "sorta" worked, with enough material left for one last coil.

Then, the second problem; flooding. I could NOT fill the Ody up without flooding the coil...I tried everything...still flooded. Finally got that issue sorted out, but by then I was out of coil materials so it just sat here, looking beautiful, un-used until more wick and wire arrived.

It did, this morning. I spent nearly 20 minutes, carefully crafting a coil. Then, re-assembled the Ody with equal care. Slowly filled it up, then very gently put on the top caps.

A new, freshly charged battery in the Stealth, attached the Ody...hit the button, took a draw...BEAUTY!!! Huge clouds of vapor, no leaks, no gurgling, no flooding...PERFECTION!!!

It's been working wonderfully throughout the whole day...I'm in love with this set-up, finally! It took a while to get things down pat, but Boy oh Boy, it was worth it!!!

wreimer,

Now you will need to register with the CDC (US Center for Disease Control) as you have now officially caught the GG Virus. Use extreme caution as this disease is considered Extremely Contagious and can be passed on to others through various methods such as by Touch (Holding a GG in your hands), Inhalation Hazard (Anyone who tries a GG is infected), Visual Contraction (Anyone seeing the device in action usually ends up getting one themselves)

GG's are not addicting...I can quit anytime I want too... Yea, that's right, anytime.. Just don't want to, never will...

I'll also tell you that after trying the Odysseus, nothing will ever taste the same. I went on a 3 day business trip and didn't want to risk taking my Ody because I only have one. For 3 days I temporarly went back to carto's and tanks. It was like sucking steam off a teapot. Vapor is there but zero flavor compared to the Ody. Returned Friday night, kissed my wife and ran right for the Ody. Amazing machine

ALL of us went through the same learning curve. First thing I did with my first GGTS was tear up the center post o-rings, got mad, and pitched a fit. lol But, with the support of the forum I got it up and running in no time. When a new GG owner has start up problems and anyone seems like they are smiling....it's because they are remembering THEIR screwups.

Later, I got the new brass connector to replace the SS one. After reassembly the GG would not work. I spent all kinds of time troubleshooting the problem before I discovered I forgot to install the center pin connector. Now....that's dumb.

Think of it as a rite of passage into the GG realm.

Lol, never go straight for the GG's after a long business trip or day at work. I did it once, never again. Every time I vaped I had dagger eyes on me.

that's why I've been carrying at least one of my Stealth's (with ody) since i've had em, with me at all times when I am out and about....

So do tell...

I was finally able to rebuild mine on monday, as my hand seemed capable. Double wick at the contact point, metered out at 3.5, which was the target.. Awesomeness on the test run. Filled it, and didn't even put on the top assembly it was flooded.

Missing something here..

Great to hear you're on the mend Z! Hope the flooding was just an O-ring or something minor. If not. let us know. AS you know, there's plenty of folks to lend a hand! :)

And as to learning curves and stupid pet tricks. When I received my beloved UFS, I barely took time to properly clean and lube it. The first 3 tries were miserable failures as the thing was so flooded I couldn't get as much vapor as I was juice! :(

Turns out I was simply failing to open the air control before taking a draw. With the vacuum, the juice was taking the path of least resitence and seriously flooding me out. It's amazing how getting one step of the process out of order and nothing works hih?

Zogem,from my understanding,there are 2 ways to have flooding;

Bottom o-ring problem (looking at it its unlikely, but can happen) and your grounding wire caught between the base and the tightening ring (that did happend to me once)...make damn sure that the lil wire piece going down there is straight and didnt get caught (easily done when tightening the final few threads)a hair there and the gates are opened.

Thanks, I'll update the other thread on that at some point.

So I fired it up again (I haven't been in a rush, this io6 atty rocks).

If I fire it up, the I hear the coils, and even a pop now then... Surprised by the pop as it meters at 3.9 with .4 in the device thus 3.5, at 6v. The coil 'sounds' hotter than the io6, but the vape is much smaller and cooler, and gurgles. Also, it's bottom leaking. Which I don't get, as I have to flood the top before that should be a problem..

I had the distorted o ring on the pin problem, so I loosened that. reentered, and tightened, perhaps not enough. I lubed everything, but was careful not to do it so that it would lube the wick.

One very weird thing was that when I rebuilt it, the mouth piece hand tightened with a gimp hand, was not centered. I rolled the whole assembly on my desk, and the mouth piece was off 4-5 degrees. I unscrewed it, screwed it back on, and it was centered. This might be part of the problem.

We shall see.. I'll rebuild once the new bottom piece ships.

I've noticed this, too, where sometimes my mouthpiece is off-kilter a little bit, but it hasn't really affected much of anything other than visually.
