I finally managed to swoop an Ody from the classies (though I paid an arm and a leg for it)! Despite owning my weight in gear, this is actually going to be my first rebuildable atomizer! So in short, I was wondering what coil configurations and components have been working best for everyone in the family?

The wick and wire are my biggest points of inquiry. I've seen a few different wick styles used in videos of the Ody and other rebuildables, but what's the overall best wick for producing the most amount of vapor while maintaining the purest flavor? And I've seen that the standard wick from Imeo is sold out on COV, so I'd appreciate if someone would please provide URLs for other retailers that carry proper wicking chord :)
Also, what is the best wire? I've seen that there are a few different options for the material of the wire, silver being the most expensive, but how does the element effect performance? And I've also picked up that the gauge of the wire effects the coils final Ω, so what gauges are best for 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, and 3+ Ω setups?
I love my DCTs, drip setups, and UFSv2, but with wasting juice on failed UFS refills, gunked up cartomizers, and the steady toll that replacing burned out atomizers has on my bank account, I have so much faith the Ody is going to be the answer to 95% of my first world problems!

As a side note...are there any retail chains that carry aforementioned materials?

Lots of rave reviews with the stock wick and wire. Did your sale not include it?

As long as you build it right, the stock wire/wick blows everything else away. Most are quite fine with it, some are looking at options, but that's the sides of the bell curve.

Confirm with your seller if you are getting wire and wick.

Yes, as Zogem says the stock wire and wick are great!.

I do double up the wick with a small piece on top of the longer piece then wrap coil.

I do a burn on the wick over the stove before installing in ODY though.

Still having probs getting a higher ohm coil to do HV vaping without triggering the protected cells from too low ohm coils.

I get it eventualy though and Ody vaping like a smoke stack with current coil at 3.7 V, so I'm happy. :)

I'm getting stock wick and wire, I was just curious what other options are out there that people are enjoying.
Gotcha.

You'll probably be OMG with that. Assuming the build goes well..So that's probably the first thing.

Secondary is what you want to do with it. We've seen the ranges from .9 to 4.5, and some DC mods.

My next try is a double wick at the point of resistance. Hopefully tomorrow.

Looking forward to you stories..

Well I typically vape a pretty vast multitude of setups. I usually stick to 1.25 DCCs at 3.7v, 2.5 DCCs at 5-5.5, 1.5 attys at 3.7, 2.5 DCA at 6v, 1.5 DCAs at 4.5ish v, and 3.5 DCAs at 7.4v.
I'm so stoked at the prospect of building my own DCAs in Odysseus! I haven't found a DCA with low enough resistance to effectively vape at 3.7v, but the .9ohm DCA Odysseus looks like it was practically made for me (and eventually by me!)!

I am really liking the stock stuff you can buy from cov or in bulk here

NR .2mm Nickel wire 50grams
wires.co.uk : Bare Nickel Wire

Res wire .15mm Nichrome 50g
wires.co.uk : Bare Nickel Chrome / Nichrome Section

For local buys

Sterling Silver 30 awg Dead soft here
.999 Fine Silver 30 Gauge Round Dead Soft Wire

For resistance wire ebay. I personally don't like the 32 awg as much and 36 is almost to thin I would love it if I could find a source for 34 but never see it on ebay.

For wick if you don't mind the extra work Nextel XC116 is great if you don't want to do the extra work to make it work the stock wick is probably your best bet once COV has it in stock.

Agree totally with what my good friend Fright posted. I am very shaky with the hands and don't see too well but my personal fav so far has been the 36 AWG Kanthal with the pure silver NR wire.

There's something intangible about the Ody though I must say. The stock wire and wick blow pretty much every other device I have used away. Once you get yours, you'll see what I mean regards the vaping experience with it.

Even for a novice coil builder like myself, using anything except the Ody now almost feels like a step down. (Man am I glad my UFS can't read!)

Ah it's all in the taaste of the vaper! I use 2.6 on my Ody as I prefer a cool vape but man what vapor and flavor I get. I tried lower ohms just to see if there was any appreciable difference as to percceived vapor production and I don't see it.

Since I got my Ody, the wife comes into the family room griping about it looking like an opium den from the old westerns. She did have to concede though that a room full of vapor smells a heck of a lot better than one drag on an analog though... ;)

I tie fishing flies so guess am a master at fiddly stuff but I still use a fly tying vice with a large needle in its jaws to wind my 0.9 ohm dual coil. Just follow vaping monkeys video for some great stuff....
