I've only had one puff in fifteen days!

Hey dudes, I'm new to vaping - someone I work with was vaping two weeks ago in our smoking area at work; I asked him about it, and he said he hadn't had a cig in over two months!

I had tried e-cigs before (the disposable gas-station ones) and I wasn't too impressed; very thin, small amounts of vapor, almost unnoticeable nicotine content, and they never lasted as long as the packaging claimed. They cost as much as two packs of cigarettes, yet they only last half-a-day, at best!

Well, I decided to get a vape - started off with an eGo C-Twist 1100mah battery, an EVOD clearo and some Atmos e-liquid....and it is FANTASTIC.

I've now gotten some extra stuff (another battery and three more clearos, and about 8 different flavors of e-juice, ~$100 investment) and I'm completely satisfied with everything I have, and vaping in general.

The 18mg juice I buy tastes fantastic, and it actually controls my nicotine cravings! I was a smoker for three years, and was smoking a pack and a half per day when I switched to vaping. I took one drag off of a friend's cigarette three days ago and it was DISGUSTING. Seriously, it tasted the way cigarettes did when I picked them up - ashy and harsh, and it left a nasty film inside my mouth. Another thing I noticed is that cigarette smoke seems to be THINNER than the vapor my EVODs make, and WAY less satisfying.

Question for you guys though:

When I wake up and turn on my vape, the first few hits are really harsh - it's not the vapor, it's just me. Once I've taken 3-4 hits, the harshness goes away and doesn't come back all day. Does this happen to anyone else?
It could be the heavy menthol flavors that I like - I was a menthol smoker, so it's to be expected I guess.

Sorry for the novel, but I'm just feeling fantastic lately. I can breathe, I don't get out of breath walking up the stairs, I'm not hacking up terrible brown goo 24/7, I don't reek of cigarettes anymore, everything tastes better, and the best part - I CAN VAPE INSIDE! No more standing outside in below-freezing temperatures for my nicotine!

:)

Congrats on the switch and welcome. I'm the same way waking up. Not sure why it happens, but I would assume it's where your throat is dryish when you wake up so the first few hits are harsh on your throat. Drinking a glass of water as soon as I wake up and then vaping has been working for me. Make sure you're drinking a lot of water throughout the day as vaping dries you out also. But give water before vaping in the morning a try and it should help you out

^I usually start puffing once my coffee is ready, like I did when I smoked cigs. (except now I can do it inside! Yeah!)

Hmm, I didn't know that vaping had any kind of dehydration effects. I know the caffeine in my coffee does, and I usually follow my morning cup with water (I carry a 1L bottle around with me everywhere) but I've never drank water first thing in the morning.

I'll give it a shot!

Hi dude and welcome. It can be that your throat is dehydrated--vaping is very dehydrating--but it also may be your equipment. How do you store your tank overnight? It's quite possible the coil is still a bit dry when you first start to vape. When in doubt, take a couple of gentle primer puffs (without activating the battery) to make sure there's enough eliquid on the coil. Trying to vape a dry coil is not exactly fun!

First of all, congrats. The last analog I had, I smelled that nasty smoke on my fingers for hours (Marlboro Red). Feel good now though.
When I'm not sleeping with my girlfriend, I normally fall asleep with my mod :p but I don't seem to normally have that issue with the harsh morning vape. It could be the dry throat, or semi-dry wick. Could be that you have spent the past 6-8 hours breathing air (I tend to vape constantly all day long). Menthol, a lot of times, will tend to tear your throat up also. It's quite strong and somewhat invasive on thin cell walls from my experience. But that's just my :2c:

gratz on quitting the cigs. I've been cig free a couple of months now myself. Started with a ego, now using a Itaste MVP 2 and a Protank 3. I usually get that harshness in the morning as well. never thought of taking a sip of water with clear that up. But I do enjoy that throat hit first thing in the morning LOL

congrats , 15 was a big thing for me. I had tried to vape before but I fell back into the analogs. So tried again on the 12th of Feb and so far I havent touched an analog since then and i can relate about feeling fantastic , you just wanna tell everyone that smokes that vaping is the way to quit :) again congratz dude keep on vapin'!

Vaping is harsher than smoking, but you get used to it. I think that's why it's so harsh first thing in the morning. Whenever I let someone try mine, I always tell them to take a tiny puff because they will invariably cough and choke if they take a full puff. Of course, it's the same thing when you first try smoking as well.
