I'm still not totally off cigarettes, down to about 5 a day from the pack and a half a day I smoked before I found vaping. As I get to fewer and fewer cigarettes I'm really noticing that smoking and vaping don't mix. For example. when I switch back to vaping after having had a cigarette, vaping seems harsh and hurts my throat. This only happens after I've been smoking a cigarette, then back to vaping later.
If I've been vaping most of the day without smoking cigs, I don't notice vaping as being harsh.
Begs the question, do cigarettes numb the throat or lungs or something like that?
I've also noticed a shortness of breath after smoking that I'm betting was always there when I was a steady smoker but now notice due to smoking so much less. Anyone else notice things like this?
Damn cigarettes, I've got to get completely off them! Thanks!

Not sure about the harshness you feel when vaping after a cig, but the shortness of breath after smoking definitely! When I bought my first e-cig, I had 2 packs of cigarettes left, I was a pack+ per day smoker. It took me two weeks to finish those 2 packs with vaping. What you might try is when you feel like you need a cigarette, vape for a few minutes instead. Then if you still need one, have one. Think of vaping as a way to switch, not a way to quit. Every time you vape instead of smoke you are doing yourself a favor. I think if you keep vaping more than you are smoking, one day the smoke will just taste bad, and you will be happy not to smoke. Good Luck!

Ecigs are harsh feeling, but the more you vape them, the less irritating it is. They're always going to be harsh first thing in the morning, for instance, because it's been 8 hours. There's nothing really at play as far as the cigarettes numbing your throat. Smoking a cigarette just increased the time since your last vape, hence the return of the harshness.

What MG nicotine are you using? I always noticed that when I used 24mg, the first few hits were always rather harsh after not vaping for a while. BUT, I did use this to my advantage because that throat hit somehow satisfied my craving for a cigarette. Since quitting cigs completely and switching to strictly vaping, I have cut down to 16mg.

The harshness you describe could come from vaping a high level of nicotine and from a high level PG in your juice. It could also be caused by not drinking enough water. I cannot stress this enough, but PG and VG are both hygroscopic, meaning they attract moisture and as a result, will dehydrate you!

Smoking doesn't cause "numbness" in your lungs. What happens when you smoke is the cilia (little hair like organisms) in your lung become paralyzed and can't function properly. When you start vaping they function like they should and start clearing out the lungs.

Once you go a couple of days without analogs then try one you will fully realise just how horrible they truly taste. They completely overwhelm your mouth. Thick horrible smoke. I find it difficult to believe that i ever actually smoked even though i only gave up 4 weeks ago.

Smoking is sooooooo yesterday.

Vaping is the future of "smoking". It's the eco freindly green way of getting your nicotine.

Far more pleasant experience all round.

My bf who changed smoking to vaping said the same exact thing as well. Well, it wasn't exactly hurting him, but he did say he wasn't liking the taste of the normal cigarettes after he's been using the e-cigs for a couple weeks now. But when he did smoke the real one, I noticed how he would cough really bad..Anyways, he's trying to quit too! Seeing him...I realize how hard it is to quit... :(

But, you can do it! You're not alone. Good luck with quitting! :)

Hello all.........I threw out my last carton of analogs this morning. I tried to quit smoking by using the e-cig and switching off to analogs when a craving hit. Then I realized that if I didn't fully commit to stopping the analogs I would never achieve my goal of dumping them for good. I can either smoke analogs or vape e-cigs. I chose to vape. Good luck to all.

I also only find vaping harsh at a high nicotine level. For me, I wasn't able to stop smoking analogs until I went up to 18mg. It's harsh, but it kills my cravings. Hopefully you'll find a happy medium and be able to stop. I recommend trying diff levels, using a lower level most of the day with something harsher for difficult cravings?

i started out unsure about throat hit, but now i love the harshness. i vaped some 12mg juice for awhile and i was craving cigarettes quite a bit. now i do 24-36 and it's so much better. i actually enjoy the harshness of the first vape of the morning. i look forward to it the same way i looked forward to my first cigarette of the day. only difference is i'm not coughing my lungs up every morning now, even with the high nic/harshness.
