I am somewhat new to the tanking world per say but not new to vaping, been going strong for over 2 years now.

Anyways, I recently bought a provari w/ a couple of J Tanks and some Boge stainless steel punched cartos. All is well but I am having this problem of when I go to fill it, I lose tons of freakin' juice... Mostly it is feeding back up into the
cartomizer and coming out the top end when filling.

I've only seen a few videos on how-to with them and am just having no luck, and tired of wasting juice :/ Anyone have any advice on how they handle combating this issue?

I do not currently have a tank filling kit.

Currently I do push the connector end down and fill from that side. I found that if I leave it up high the juice seeps through the punched holes in the carto and comes out the end. If I slide it down to where the punched holes are within the grommet of the tank the leaking is less but its still there. Aside from leaking at these times, it stays completely dry and I have not seen a leak.

With a syringe or fill kit does it basically fill the wadding inside the carto til its full and then began to overflow out into the tank, or?

I really like this tank method but also really hate seeing juice go to waste.

I use a j-tank with my lavatube.... I have been all over youtube watching people fill their tanks... I see the same thing, upside down pushing the connector down then fill... But i get the same thing, juice every where!!!!!! My friend silverbullit showed me a different way... He told me to hold the connector and twist the tank up until you see the top of the carto in the tank... He slightly tilted the tank and slowly put the juice in... He told me to never fill it all the way up... Since I have done this I have had no leaks at all!

Video Library - Phiniac Rugged Pyrex Glass Tanks

If you go down to "Phiniac How-To Videos" and watch the tank tool video it may help. That is what made me understand how it works. I understand it's a different brand tank but all the tanks basically work the same.

I have the tank filling tool sold by Phiniac and also the one from Big Daddy Vapor, the Slap-Yo-Mamma tool (which I prefer because of a better user friendly design), and they both prevent juice from getting into the top of the carto and into the air hole, in addition to saving the inner 0-rings from getting cut by the carto's sharp upper edge. Strongly recommend getting one of these.

Just wanted to post again and say thanks so much for the advice on the adaptor from Big Daddy Vapor. Got it today and my gosh it makes things soooo simple.

Thanks again!

I re-read your previous comments, especially about the leaking of juice from the punched holes in the carto while you drop or squeeze juice into the tank. When you refill your tank, remove the drip tip and replace it with the tank fill tool.

Push the tank tool/carto into the tank enough so that there is a decent space between the top end cap and the tank tool. Drop your juice into this space. Also, if your punched holes are large enough that juice leaks from them, cover it (or them) with your fingers of the other hand while filling.

When finished, push the carto all the way up by the connector (battery side) end. Remove the tool, and replace with your drip tip.

Done! Vape. :vapor:

Not hating on the J-Tanks, but I had the same issues. I solved the problem by going to Phiniac XL tanks.

I respect your opinion and appreciate your experience. However, I don't believe the issue here was tank brand. Tanks are essentially pretty much the same. They hold an appreciable amount of juice and act as a reservoir for a punched cartomizer to feed the heating coils. They should not leak juice nor be too loose on a carato if the endcap o-rings are working properly.

Flooding or leaking of juice from the carto itself is generally from filling the tank with too much juice then trying to put the top cap on. The top cap displaces air and juice, and the juice has nowhere to go except to flood the carto, resulting in the excess juice finding the path of least resistance, being the connector tube.

The tank filler tools prevent excess juice from getting into the center air hole when filling the tank (a broken toothpic plugs the hole also). The tools also protect the endcap 0-rings from the sharp carto edge.
