Janty dura c- first charge cycle question

I want to get the most out of my batteries, the manual says charge for eight hours then use for 20 minutes then charge for another hour.But i hear everyone saying first charge 12 hours. anyone know whats best?

charger = greenlight = fully charged and ready to rock.

I still don't get why manufacturers still ask for a 8 or 12 hour initial charge with lithium....
