Well Trog, since your a do'er why haven't we seen a prototype yet?

I want an atomizer/cart system that dosent need ongoing maintenance. It's either that or a complete ecig that is disposible. (bit far fetched but it would be awesome)
there already is a fully disposable ecig-gamucci sell it...but again, its too expensive to be viable...its all about the money...

trog,i think lots of people reckon youre like Q from james bond...after all,its just a matter of whipping up,building and producing a new design of perfect atomiser for mass sale in your shed-easy peasy...and its gotta last forever, and be dirt cheap...

get real...

That's not what im asking for at all. i think for everyone when i say that we all want someone be it trog or some other perosn to develope a different idea good or bad dosent matter. Something different to get the ball rolling

i use what i know to be currently available technology at a price that would be marketable.. i see anything else as science fiction.. the stuff of dreams

the real hold back on e cig design is battery technology.. i have done something about the battery weakness. but at a price.. my device no longer resembles a small smoking tube..

it just needed some out of the box thinking.. it will no doubt influence things a little..

but i cant see any way to alter or improve atomizer design without more battery power..

all i can do is advice people that small smoking tubes will work but not for long.. once people know this the selling methods will have to change..

so where does that leave us.. a little wiser but still puffing away on small smoking tubes.. hopefully cheaper ones.. he he

no one wanted an ever lasting real cigarette why should they want an ever lasting e cigarette...

in short they dont... they simply want one that works reliably.. and equally importantly dosnt cost an arm and leg to run.. as darcy says to comes down to price..

the real problem thow isnt the atomizer technology.. its the current state of battery technology.. the answer to the atomizer problem is easy.. treat them and price them as disposable items and chuck them away when needed..

but as long as the masses want small smoking tubes with flashing lights.. there is no answer to the battery problem..

its up to the big manufacturers to do that...otherwise its far too small scale and limited to matter...

they have the resources and apparently research and development teams-although sometimes i wonder what the heck theyre doing...

they are selling to the masses what the masses want.. or at least the nearest they can get to it.. the masses take it for granted that what they buy will work.. the chinese dont overly care.. they re-tool their machines and move on the next profitable gizmo..

chinese thinking aint the same as western thinking..

i understand the batteries need to be developed more but im more concerned about the atomizers. is it possible to make one with parts that don't burn or degrade as quickly?

its only the wick material that degrade so quickly.. its would certainly be possible to make something more durable.. but it might not work as well.. one assumes that even the chinese have given this issue some thought.. but so far i dont see much improvement.. which kinda leads me to believe no easy improvement is sitting there..

so there isn't any material that is resistance to burning that is also absorbent?

maybe developing a liquid that vaporises at a lower temp? that way the wick dosen't burn

just to add to this i dont think its just down to the wick burning.. i think its more down to the liquid thats in direct contact with the hot wire.. getting baked and turning into a hard none absorbent shell around the quick.. this hard shell goes so far down into the wick destroying its ability to absorb enough fluid to produce the vapour..

boiling might help but i dont really know.. i do it sometimes but never notice any distinct improvement.. if i clean half a dozen or so i boil them i then blow them out with my air compressor set at 20 psi..

does it do any good.. i dont know.. he he..

but this comes down to money.. if they dont cost much it isnt worth messing about with them.. just fit a new one and carry on..
