I'm not sure if there are any other expats in Japan vaping. They are cracking down on public smoking here now. Starting 4/1 there is no smoking on any train platforms, where they had a 'smoking zone'. I have made a card to show, if approached. It states that it is not tobacco based and only water vapor is released, which is not hazardous or illegal...

I'm visiting toyko in a month or two, Im not exactly sure what the card says, but would it be worth it for me to print out a couple of these to explain what the e-cig is?

From what I can read it says this is not tobacco and the smoke you see is watervapor. More to it but you get the basic's. Yeah take some with you but may places you can smoke in Tokyo.

I'm down in Okinawa......havent heard anything here about it....in fact, public smoking is widely accepted. 99% of restaurants dont mind it, most of them have Smoke odor neutrilizers that they use.

You find any suppliers for Ecig supplies up there in mainland?

In terms to customs......my SE Gold was inspected by customs, and cleared....It was found to be Safe, Legal and not against SOFA status rules for importations.

I have seen adds for the Tokoyo Puffer, or Tokoyo Ecig.....cant remember totally now, but it was a Ecig ad.....they are accepted here, and catching on VERY fast. Problem is, still no damn suppliers i can find.

I'm going to Tokyo at the end of August and was wondering about how customs would treat my vaping stuff. I'm even more concerned about US customs when I come home.

Anyone have any experiences with airport security and e-cig equipment?
You won't have a problem with customs, since it is your personal belonging and not a gift do not "claim" it on the customs form.

Come by the travel section and most of your questions will be answered!

I really liked the designating smoking sections on train platforms, although I almost always ended up throwing it out because of bad timing. Can you still smoke on the shinkansen? Nothing like a beer and a cigarette while traveling :)

It's been a while but last time I was on the Green car there was one section for smoking.

I too am interested if anyone finds ecig sources in Japan. I am here for a year now. Does anyone know how to contact the Joye makers, to see if they have any distribution in Japan? I've seen some online carts claiming to be compatible with the 510T... other than that, I may have to have stuff shipped here from the states, which is a pain. If I get time, I'll make a serious effort to locate anything here.
