JJ`s DNA20-Mod with 5200mah

Here is my first DNA20 mod with 5200mah of power and usb-charging chip.

Parts:
- DNA20-chip
- 5200mah (2xsamsung ICR 2600mah)
- USB-charging chip
- 10K potentiometer
- tactile switch
- steel body
- 510-connector
Dimensions:Height 10cm(3,9inch),width 3,5cm(1,37inch) and depth 2,3cm(0,9inch)

Good job.....where is the display....on the back side?
What is the mah rating of the battery.....

the display is on the bottom side of the mod and the battery is slim desing samsung 2600mah and no i do not know the ratings of the battery but it is performing just fine --> after 12 hours of vaping almost full battery.

i would think you would want to know the C rating of the battery as a modder. With a 2600mAh battery with 1C rating would mean you shouldn't run it above 2.6 amps. .5C rating and you don't want to go over 1.3 amps....just to be safe, ya know?



They both look awesome though.

These have a discharge rate of .2c meaning the max you should run them at for current is 520mah. If you use these for a very short period of time, then you will probably never notice a problem. However, I vape all day. So they wouldn't be safe for me. Also, the DNA20 (if I'm not mistaken) has thermal protection so it will cut off the device if it gets too hot. I just want you to be aware that if these are the batteries you are using, they are getting extremely hot. Come summer time, I would be very careful with them. To be honest, I would get new batteries.

I think that's a typo in that particular ad. I think it's supposed to be 2C, not .2C...

Any battery used should be rated for a MINIMUM of 7 amps continuous discharge current. High C rated lithium polymer or IMR cylindrical cells are strongly preferred.

Only two 18650 cells that I know of that support that kind of current are the AW IMR18650 and the Panasonic CGR18650CH.

I see this in the datasheet.

Very few folks will actually be vaping at the max 20W, for the majority who fall in the 8-12W range a 5.2A input should work going by that.

In his OP he used a pair of the ICR2600's paralleled. Seems fine. In his next mod he used 'slim desing samsung 2600mah', which sounds like some sort of flat pack.

BTW Samsung also has a high drain cell like the pretend IMR, the CGR18650CH.
