I know this has been asked before, but I'm a little put off:
I just ordered samples of the Red Oak line of Johnson's Creek juices, including a really fruity one called Solstice.

Well, I got the fruity one (oh how it smells like candy!) in the carto and tried it and....

not only do I not taste anything, but what I do taste is just ... like someone stuck a branding iron to the back of my throat. :(

I can *smell* it *sometimes* when I try to vape it (I can barely get it down at all) , but I don't taste anything but hot burn!

Is this normal ? Should I steep it?
*confused*

Yup, I was actually afraid I'd overfilled it, trying to make sure I waited between drips to let it all get in there... it takes w while for all of the juice to soak in, and I even used a syringe with a long pointed tip to distribute it.

There were a few times where I didn't soak the entire carto, and normally I just won't get a vape at that point.

I used a new different cart and tried a different JC juice. I'm still getting the same effect, but the vapor of course smells the way its supposed to.
I'm using a regular volt battery, fully charged. They are 3.6 volts.
I even tried another juice that I'd already used last week with no issues. Even that one, in a different carto is starting to burn me a bit...
I don't know... maybe it's my battery..but BOTH batteries? I tried them both with all of the carts. (both fully charged)

What is steeping. How do you do that?
Hey Todd!
Steeping in basically the act of setting the juices aside to help the flavors come out better. The idea is that when you order an e-juice, it may have been newly manufactured and need time for the flavors to come out. Some don't use this method while others do, and there are different ways to do it: Some take the caps off of thier bottles and store them in a dark, cool place. Some shake them first, and others just leave the caps on... the details are up to the individual and what they think helps the flavor the best.

Hope that helps! :toast:

I've never had to steep any juice from Johnson Creek, but then again, I've never ordered Solstice, which I believe is the only flavor they have that doesn't have a tobacco base flavor so maybe that's the difference. I don't think they mix to order so it surprises me that any would need to steep but Idk. Everything I've gotten from them has been the Red Oak Line (PG Free) so I wouldn't think it has to do with VG in this case.

I haven't found in necessary to steep JC, either. I have, however, had that experience with bad clearomizers. One in particular just came out of the wrapper tasting like burned rubber and no amount of cleaning or wicking fixed it. For all intents and purposes, it was D.O.A. although functional.

Are you using a VV? Is your voltage set too high maybe?

Welp, 24 hour checkin:
I tried a carto that still had some of the JC juice in it that was still causing problems... I managed to vape some of it. It still stings, but not as bad.
Then I topped the carto off again with some of the juice that had been steeping in an open bottle.

Lo and behold, it's gotten vape-able, but I'm gonna let all of the JC juices (I got 5 samples for 20) continue to steep for at least another day to see what happens.

Perhaps if it all sits around for a week it will get its flavor in and loose that really bad kick completely.

They still don't have a flavor yet... I would describe them as perfume-y, though.

Yep.. I got a whole bunch of the Red Oak samples... they have a 5 for 20 dollars deal, so I took it... but all of them have this issue. >.<

I'm using a regular volt with one of their cartomisers. Thier voltage is about erm.. 3.6? I swap between the 65 and 78.
