Hello all!

My name is Gary, and I will soon be enjoying the experience of using a Reo product! I first learned about this mod last week, and after lurking the forums, I was able to get some tips to order my Reo Grand Black/Black before they sold out! I currently vape a Magma-T with 650 mAh battery from Volcano. I really like this setup, but don't enjoy messing with all the 0.7 ml tanks.

That being said, I had a few questions about the atomizers and batteries:

1. I ordered 10 LR JoYe 1.5Ω atty, and 15 LR Boge 1.5Ω cartos, both 510. Do these get worn out quickly? My tankomizers currently last me about 2 months each.

2. I ordered 2 AW-IMR 18650, with the 188 charger. Is a multimeter really important for monitoring the volts? What voltage is the lowest at which I should recharge the battery?

3. I only vape about 1ml a day. Can I keep the 18650 in the Reo for a week and have it last? My 650 mAh can last me about 3 days before I need to charge it.

Thanks for the help, and if anyone has a newbie tips they would like to share, I would be grateful!

1. My 306 LR attys last longer on my REOs (Grand, mini, miniwoodvil) than they did on my eGo-T's dripping because I am better at squonking and keeping them wet than when I dripped. It really depends on how you treat them, but there is nothing about the REOs that would make them burn out faster. Most of mine last 2 weeks-2 months unless I do something stupid trying to dry burn them clean. I dewick and eventually debridge most of my 306 attys

2) The taste drop off as the 18650 goes below 3.7 is so great, you want to change it. A multimeter is nice to confirm there isn't a problem and to troubleshoot. For $8 the one at RTDvapor does the trick for me. It's small and not overly complicated.

3) I vape about 5ml a day and could easily go through two 18650, so I can't help on how long they last with low usage. I like the hotter vape so as soon as the heat drops I swap them out.

Congrats on the Grand. I have a black/black too. You'll love it.

Hi Gary! WELCOME!!! :)

1. I have no experience with Boge 1.5ohm cartos, but the 2.0ohm ones usually last me about 1 1/2 weeks. It seems to depend on your juice preference. Some people only get a day or two. Attys are mysterious creatures. I've had some die off almost immediately, and some are over a month old and still going strong. We have people who swear by steam cleaning and some that dry burn. I'm sure they'll share their tips. I'm afraid that I usually neglect mine.

2. A multimeter is important for checking the battery as well as checking the atomizer. You don't want to put an atomizer with a dead short on your REO, you can short the mod and need a new firing button, spring, or a trip to Rob. It is also handy in trouble shooting. You can pick up one for $5 at Harbor Freight.

You should not allow a AW IMR 18650 battery to discharge below 3.5v. Most people find that their vape quality diminishes around 3.8v (some people change out batteries much sooner).

3. The IMR batteries will not lose charge just "sitting" for a week, so the time you have it in shouldn't affect it.

Good point about the attys. How quickly I forget!. I ruined an ego-T battery just last week trying to dry burn an atty with .5 resistance on it. I was happy to have the multimeter to find the problem and probably saved my REO spring from melting.

A multimeter is probably essential. I should use mine more.

First of all, if you bought it new from the reosmods site are you aware it is shipped with signature required? Someone at the address needs to sign or they will leave a note. You can take that note to the PO if needed and pick it up.
With that being said:

Welcome to the REO family Gary!! You are officially a REOnaut!!!
You sound like you are all set and ready to vape a REO!
You will be blown away at the vape, and just want to keep vaping. But you must be aware of your nic intake. Many of us have gone into nic overload. Some (me included) have had to stop and drink a lot, even lay down!
Atty's are great, but they do have their own particular qualities and durability. As stated they can last for hours or weeks. Sometimes we can guess why, sometimes no clue they just up and die.
Your vaping habit now means you will have a battery that last a long time. A multimeter is very good to keep checking your battery for voltage drop. Below 3.5 is just not good for the battery. I was taking mine below that and did not know until I invested in a $9 multimeter.
Keep hanging around here with us and let us know when your Grand gets here. We love to see the pics of new REO's!!

First, welcome to the REO family Gary. Most of us are on a first name basis here, I'm Mike. Now for your questions... juicejunky is right. The joye 306 lr's will last (usually) much longer on the reo since its easier to keep them moist. Remeber that a flooded atty will die almost as quickly as a dry one. Especially if you keep flooding it over and over. A multimeter is a easy to use necessary tool. You'll need it to verify atty and cartos resistances, to check for doa parts, and for keeping tabs on your batteries. My 18650's rarely get a chance to go below 3.9v's and I'm swapping for a new one. The 4.2v-3.9v is where I like to run with the 306 2.0Ω attys I use. The multimeter's can be found everywhere. Unless your loaded, no need to spend anymore on an expensive model. (The one RTD sales for ~$8 works fine) I vape 5-10ml's per day using between 3-5 reos in rotation. So I also use several aw imr 14500's and aw imr 18650's over the course of a "normal" day. My advice to you is to have about 4 batteries and rotate them. I number mine with a black sharpie and rotate in order. Your batteries will last much longer if you let them rest for at least a couple of hours before charging AND especially AFTER charging!

Wow I didn't know that. I've been just grabbing the one that's most convenient and slapping them on the charger as soon as I'm done with them.

Its a specific requirement for lithium batteries. Charging and discharging Lithium Ions is basicaly a chemical reaction...The rest period calms the agitated battery to regain equilibrium.

Here's some excellant reading for anyone to learn about these batteries.

Wow thanks for all the info! I'm glad I found this place to share my experiences and learn from the professionals. How do you check an atty with the meter? Sounds like something I should do when ordering bulk attys to check for DOA. And what is the safe range for 1.5Ω and 2.0Ω atties? I will have to order some 306s to compare with the 510.

@Mike: I never knew that about Li-Ions! Makes sense, and I will probably order some more 18650's and label them like you suggested.

Welcome Gary!!! I have no experience with atomizers, but your cartos will most definitely last longer at 1ml a day. I vape 2-3ml a day and mine last about 5-6 days, but then I boil them and they are good as new (IMO). At 1ml a day your battery should last you about 2 days. now I understand that by instinct you will want to wait until they quit before affixing a new one, but that is not advised. I have 2 bateries (aw imr 18650s) and personally I put a new one on every morning. If I get to 3ml a day (rough days) then I usually switch them out around 7 pm. The amount you vape will probably increase when you get your reo, don't feel bad... at least your not smoking :D It just means you are enjoying your REO! I hope you enjoy your grand as much as I enjoy mine!!

To check an atty just stick your positive (red) on the center post on the atty connection, and the negative (black) on the threads. Turn your dial to the lowest Ohms setting, (mine is 200) that readout I am pretty sure will have an extra .5 ohms on it, so a 2.0 readout will actually mean that there is 1.5 ohms of resistance. If I am wrong I will be corrected, but I am 99% sure :D

Also, make sure to "zero" your ohm meter. They will all have a slight varriation in resistance readings. To do this, set the meter to the lowest value scale for Ω's. Hold the possitive and negative leads together for a few seconds and note the value. Like .7Ω, .3Ω's or whatever it may be... When you test the attys you will then deduct that value from your readings for resistances. Say for example you get .3Ω's when zero'ing your meter. Your testing a joye 1.5Ω. You stick the red lead in the bottom center post of the atty (like your going to poke it in the bottom hole). The black/negative lead gets held to the threads on the bottom of the atty. Joyes are really good at being within tollerances. Your reading would be 1.8Ω's. 1.5Ω's for the atty and .3Ω for the leads.

I'm not a well seasoned reo user - or vaper for that matter, but I've had my grand (same colors as yours :)) for a week today and my experience so far is;

My battery seems to last about 2 days and i would call myself an "average" user. I vape about 3ml a day.

I also use carto's (boge 1.5ohm) and this latest batch I got seems unpredictable. One will last no more than two days before its crapped out or clogged and one was still going strong for two weeks. That long lasting one was used on my mini with the same flavor/juice vendor.

At the moment I don't have a multimeter and my only charger is an ultrafire WF-139. Its one of the penny pincher models of battery chargers. If you only vape about a ml a day i don't see why your grand couldn't see you through almost a week unless there are battery/charger issues - but you may need to change the carto at least once in that time frame.

Welcome to REOville! I'm sure you're gonna love your REO, although, if you're like most of us, you'll become so attached to it, you may buy another one for backup :)

BTW, I just checked Harbor Freight and they have their multimeters on sale for $3 :)

Wow thanks for the tip! Just got one for $5.43 shipped!

Also, welcome Gary! I've only had my mini woodvil for about 4 days and coupled with my cisco 1.5 306 atty (Avid Vaper) it delivers easily my favorite hits in all of vapeland. Not to mention it's insanely beautiful.

I'm dropping 10 bucks in a reo fund every paycheck. NEED MOAR.

Also need more of these 3ml bottles...
