Joye 510 atomiser... There's something plastic in there?

I get a horrible nasty plume when using the joye 510, it has only been used a couple of times and I topped up the liquid, and put a drop on the atomiser.

So I looked inside the atomiser and can see something plastic melting in there.. so I pressed the button while looking at it, and sure enough some crackling and smoke comes off of it..

This isn't normal right :S

Judging by your drawing that actually looks like the wick material.

Watch this video. It's actually about removing the wick, but it'll give you an idea if you're looking at the same thing.

Yeah that looks like wick material to me. It's meant to pull the liquid towards the coil to vaporize it. Many people like to remove them. Once they get singed or slightly burned they can continue to give off a foul taste. Check out that video above.

Ok I took that stuff out, tried dripping and it is still very harsh

if its a new atty it needs to be cleaned out before you use it. they come packed with oil. i would blow it out good into a napkin. then soak it in some 90% USP alcohol for 5 minutes while agitating it. blow it out again and let it sit overnight to dry. also if your dripping you should put about 3 drops in.

yep.. that's the wick

I think we've all pulled out a wick at one time or other. Now that you've pulled yours out, it will not work as well with a cart. BUT, it's not trash.. you can still use for dripping. Some drippers prefer it like that.

They do all come with primer (and it's a good idea to blow it out) then it will take a few puffs, or uses, to get past the remaining primer. However, you really don't want to soak it in alchohol...PGA is ok (pure grain alcohol) but rubbing alcohol is not the kind of thing you want to vape (unless it's cleaned REALLY well afterward.. even then I don't recommend it)

If you can't get all the primer out by blowing, you can always add a touch of PG or VG and vape that a couple times... it really doesn't take too much to get past the primer taste.
