Is there any real difference between the ego/riva and a 510 aside from the battery life? Is there a voltage difference or any noticeable change in the vaping experience?

I am currently using a Joye510 and am happy with it, but have been hearing great things about the ego on here... I know they use the same attys. Ive got a PCC and spare batteries for my 510 already and have not had any trouble with battery life so far, so if that's the only difference it doesn't seem like a good use of my money :D

I am also curious about higher/variable voltage PVs having different effects on flavor and am interested in maybe trying one of these out, but I don't know what's good, or where one actually buys these things...

The Buzz is a great varible volt mod. You can use about any atty or carto you like. You just dial it up or down till you get the flavor or vapor volume you like. It's made by a member/supplier of this forum. His name is buzzkill and NotCigs is where you can get one.

All I can speak for is the eGo. It's awesome! One battery lasts me almost 6 hours (650mAh batteries came with my kit) and it's nice and compact...I'd even say it's "pretty" to look at. :) Then there's the eGo cartomizer...OMG! I've been using one for the last two days and I love it! Perfect draw, last a long time between refilling (literally HOURS!) and both vapor and taste are great with it.

As far as higher voltage mods...I say start with a box mod. Lots of folks love their 5v box mods...I have a 3.7v one myself and it's wonderful. They're not that expensive and if you decide you dig 5v or want to go higher, you can then invest in a "fancy" mod. If you decide you hate it, you're not out a lot of money and you can always list it in the calssifieds here and someone will surely take it off your hands. :)

I just ordered my ego today from cignot (BTW - their price is AWESOME for what you get).

I found that the 510 batteries were just not cutting it for me (I always seemed to have them on the charger), and really wanted to try out the LR atomizers too.

I can't say (yet) what the vaping experience is like, but I am really excited to find out! :)

I have both...a Joye 510 and an eGo. I had the 510 for about a week first, and loved it. But all I heard about was eGo, eGo, eGo and thought I must be missing out on something. Anyway, after using both, I'll tell ya....I'm thinking I prefer the taste I get from my 510. It seems that the eGo burns hotter and faster...and it affects the flavor for me. It starts tasting "burnt" a lot faster with the eGo. I love the eGo battery life, but really prefer the taste of the 510. I'm waiting on a passthrough for the 510 and I think I'll have the best of both worlds.

Haha, yeah... this is exactly the situation I am currently in :D
I think I'll just stick to my 510 for now and save up a little money for something fancy and expensive that I will probably use wrong and break.

I say if you are happy then definitely no need to change anything. Personally I had a lot of pcc problems. that's why i made the switch.

^^Ha. A person could spend a mere fortune on all the new toys that come out almost daily. I'm so tempted by everything...to the point of absurdity! Ha. I had already invested in lots of goodies for the 510....a PCC and such....extra batteries, everything...then the eGo came along. The only saving grace was that all the 510 attys and carts would work with it. I thought I'd just be getting a longer lasting battery....but what I found was (duh) that I had a more powerful battery...and it does change the experience a little. It burns through carts like you wouldn't believe! Where with the 510 I change batteries a lot, with the eGo I change carts a lot. It's a trade off.

I totally know what you mean.... Ive only been vaping for about a month and Ive gone through 3 dif types of PVs (started with a volano, and then bought a 510 and a 901), I have probably spent close to $400 on dif flavored juices and DIY supplies and flavorings... I have absolutely no self control.

I see all these people with the "vaping for x amount of days # cigs avoided $ saved" sigs and giggle to myself a little bit about the $ saved part :p I am DEFINITELY not saving any money so far :p

I am a GUY from L.A. not girl. lol
I like my 510 ok, however, today I was out and about and ran out of juice on my eGo. Wow, was I just a bit disapointed in my 510 stash(have a key chain case w/ two of them). Not nearly as "user friendly" as my manual eGo, and the vapor production is much less. I think the "Burn taste" some have mentioned w/ the eGo is more attributable to what cart filler you have than anything else. If you keep it from going dry(as w/ all e-cigs), you won't get that taste, even w/ a factory cart. I never get that taste with the filler I'm using, JFYI.

I had a 510 for a year and really liked it but it just didn't do it for me. Then I got my Riva and I figured it out. I get a warmer vapor from the Riva, it's more like a real cig. I love it. I got the Riva after reading the problems with the ego button which the riva's is rubberized. The price was way cheaper and the battery is bigger. I also have the ego usb battery from janty that I use as a passthrough and have a extra battery if I need it. I do like the button on my Riva better though. JMO

im pretty new to vaping and i ordered a ego a few days ago, i cant wait for it to get here but im just wondering what the difference between LR attys and regular ones are?
iv already spent almost 300$ on e-cigs and e-liquid / DIY stuff. so im pretty sure that the only way you'll actually "save money" is if you buy say, a E8 e-cig, and buy 5 carts, and a 50ml e-liq. and stick to just buying one thing, vaping it, getting more.

You won't save anything until you find what works for you then make yourself stick with it LOL
A LR atty will simulate vaping at 5 volts, but you should only use them on a bigger battery mod. your standard e-cig uses a mosfet circuitry and the LR atty will draw more amps than mosfet is designed to handle
