Joye 510 vs IntelliCig Evo & a few other questions

Howdy folks,

Great forum here and tons of info, it's been very helpful in trying to get an understanding of making the switch to the e-cigarette. Hopefully you guys and gals can help me out with the a couple of questions so that I can make the right choices when I pull the trigger on an e-cig.

I've been smoking for close to 20 years at this point, and for the last 10 years it's been menthol. Currently I smoke Newport Lights: about 1.25 pack/day of the short ones, or 1 pack/day of the 100s. I'd like to find a way to replicate the Newport Light experience as much as possible for now, then slowly cut back on nicotine, and eventually quit smoking/vaping entirely.

As far as a comparison between the Joye 510 and the short IntelliCig Evo... can someone give me pros and cons of one vs the other...

From what I understand, the manual battery of the 510 is desirable as there is no cutoff and it increases the life span of the atomizer -- my concern with this, however, is that I'll most likely be carrying my e-cig loosely in my pants pocket throughout the workday, and wouldn't want to inadvertently have vapor pouring from my pants...

With regard to the IntelliCig Evo, I understand that the atomizer seems to have a much longer life span than many other e-cigarettes, months instead of weeks. Is there really such a big difference in atomizer life?

Some other questions, based on my current smoking habit:

- what nicotine strength would be a good start for me?
- what flavor juice might most approximate Newport Lights' flavor?
- how long might I expect a 3ml or 10ml bottle to last, if I fill my own cartridges?

Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for your advice! :)

I have a 510 and the only con that I see with it is the battery life. They seem to only las a couple of hours. Other than that, its a great little e-cig. I gives tons of vapor and is easy to use and refill. I carry the 510 in my pocket all the time and have not had any problems with the manual battery turning on while it's in my pocket.

The Intellicig looks like a 4018 similar to the ones they sell at the mall. I have one of those as well. They work well, but the biggest pain is refilling the carts. In order to fill them without making a mess, you need to poke the little cart out with a paper clip or similar object. Then you can fill the cart and put it back. It dose give a nice easy hit and is smooth.

For nic. you can use the 18mg. Most places you order from seem to have mostly 18mg anyway. A 10ml bottle will last about a week. I don't smoke mints, so I don't know what would be close to Newport lights, but I have not found any juice that really tastes like any kind of tobacco. IMO the taste of all the juices I have had have been somewhat sweet, but pleasant. If you think you are going to find a direct replacement for analogs, you will probably be disappointed. You will get used to the flavor of juice and will probably enjoy it. I know I do.

I started with the first version of the 510 and although it was god in terms of vapour and hit I found the battery life and the cart life a big problem. I decided to try the evo on the basis they gave a money back guarentee and to be honest have found the evo to be my preferred vape... batter life is good, cart life is good and the atomisers do seem to last longer... this is based on me using the 1st version of the 510 so there may have been some improvements on the I have identified as issues.

I started out on the evo and was really digging it at first. It did get me off the analogs after 20 years of smoking. Then a friend told ma about the 510. She had started out on the evo as well and even sent me an entire 510 kit complete with 2 full e-cigs, extra carts and a PCC. I haven't touched my evo since. I do still keep them around for emergency purposes, but haven't had to use them yet.

The 510 totally blows the evo away IMO. More vapor, better throat hit & WAYYY more reliable. My evo gave me nothing but inconsistant vapor & throat hits and 3 of the 7 batts I got were bad. The evo does hold a charge longer than the 510 batts, but if you have a PCC for your 510, then batt life is not an issue. Also, the chargers for the evo are cheap and I have broken 2 so far.

My 2 cents?? Don't waste your money on the evo, go to cignot.com and buy the 'no box 510 kit'. I just ordered one yesterday for my husband and had a tracking number within an hour.

I have both a 510 and an EVO/M401 model. I use both on a daily basis.

The 510 is probably your best bet if you're just starting out. It's been exceptionally reliable for me, and you can't beat the convenience of the portable charging case. The throat hit and vapor on it are a bit better, too.

The EVO, though, is amazing for tasting what you're vaping. Once the 510 gets you off the analogs and your sense of taste comes back, the 401 really comes into its own. Battery life is about 3 hours for me, vs. 45 minutes or so with the 510, and the vapor is pretty comparable. I suggest you get the 510 for now, then come back in a month and give the EVO a try. :) It works for me!
