Hi Kellbell...thanks for the reply. I just got my huband a ego t mod also and it's the same way. Was hoping mine was just a dud. We are using the same trustfire batteries...I found a couple of sony batteries on ebay. They are coming from China...so it will be awhile before we can give them a try. What battery are you using in your ego-t mod? If you happen to come across a battery that will fire this thing up....please let me know :) Hard to believe this mod has such great reviews???

Oh, boy. That's bad news that you have two that aren't working correctly! I was going to exchange mine but maybe there's no point? I've got 3 different batteries. I've tried: genuine Joyetech 2200 mah, AW IMR 1600 mah, and EH IMR 2000 mah. I figured one of these should have worked since they work fine in my other mods.

The Ego mod does come on but the power and vapor production is less than my little, old 3.7v box mod. It's like I'm using a battery that is almost dead. If the sony batts get yours working correctly, please post! I will do the same if I get mine going. I contacted the vendor I purchased it from and they were not able to give me any advice....

I am curious before I become the bearer of bad news.....was it dropped or toppled over in even the slightest case? I am asking as the control heads are nitorious for going to poop and burning out.

I am only saying this as there was a vendor I was wanting to purchase one from but they emailed me and explained the problems (much like you are describing). How long have you had it? can you see with the vendor you got it from if there is a possible replacement exchange?

now that I said that I must beg you do not strangle the weird old wolfe with bad news

I haven't dropped mine or let it fall over but who can say that it didn't incur some sort of rough housing in transit. :glare: I had no idea this mod was so touchy! So it's possible it got jostled around and that is what caused the problem? I just put through a request to exchange or return mine to the vendor.

from what I understand from the canadian vendor I spoke to, yes there are some so touchy that if a squirl breaks wind four blocks away the controling head will go burn out. I think the issue was the heasds were getting a burst of too much power....now mind you it would be insignifigant to you and me, but due it is enought to trigger the built in protection, which of course was set too low.....

I tried googling for some links to add here, but I am on my playbook right now. as soon as I get to my laptop I will do a better search and post what I find for you

In doing a vast search on the laptop now, the errors are so far and few between (only seen on other warranty issue), so i will say that maybe China with their different quality assurance rules yours slipped under the wire...

Of course you can thump it while swearing and calling it names and see if that works for now .......

That's really too bad. I have 2 eGo T Mods...both with the "upgrade" control head...and they work flawlessly in both the regulated and unregulated mode. I don't like the Trustfire batteries much, but they do work in my eGo T Mods. I just avoid using that brand. I have the Joyetech battery, a couple of the red flat top ones that were sold with my LT, and a couple of EFests. They all work fine.

eGo T Mod is one of my favorites, for all that it's just a simple device. I use mine every day, even though I have "fancier" APVS. MIne has been dropped and knocked over more times than I care to remember. They've been lugged around in stuffed purses and in the bag of my walker jumbled in with pill bottles, multi-meter, assorted e-cig cases, my Kindle, slippers, etc. So far..in four months...no trouble at all.

Where did you buy your ego-T? Does your control head have the black button or clear button?

I do not think this is a battery issue at all.

If you use it in unregulated mode, it will be putting out straight battery power, and 1.7ohms at fresh off the charger voltages of around 4.1v-4.2v should be giving you thick, large clouds of vapor with good throat hit.

While true that trustfires aren't high-end batteries, they are far from bad. I use non-IMR protected Trusfires in my Bolt. Fresh off the charger with a 1.7 device the performance is wonderful.

I've also used the non-IMR Trustfires in some variable wattage devices such as my VAMO and Z-Max when waiting for my IMRs to charge, without the battery failing to provide enough current. Unless I was setting the wattage up in the 14-15w range the batteries provided enough power.

So it's not the batteries. I'd bet money that your issue either stems from a blown control head, or some sort of loss somewhere in the system. You could double check ALL connection points anywhere on or in the PV, make sure they are clean and in good shape.

Do you have any way to measure voltage coming from your device? It almost sounds like your control head is refusing to switch to unregulated mode. The 3.3v regulation mode is downright weak, if the unit is unable to be switched out of regulated mode perhaps this is causing your problem.

Putting my money on blown control head or some faulty connection somewhere, bottom line is even crappy Trustfires have more than enough current output to get a great vape from LR stuff like a 1.8.

There are 4 each eGo-T Upgrades in my house. No issues as far as batteries. Mostly using ICR 18650 2000mAh's. I have found that I have an issue with a clearomizer now and then not fitting the new control heads fully.. Otherwise, they work great in either mode.

Read through this post and might suggest pulling the post on your carto slightly. It might not be making full contact with the device. I read too many posts on the forum where people can't get carto/tank setups to work right and most times it is a center post problem. Just a suggestion if you haven't tried it yet.... I have one with the white button on it and although I am using a T-3 on it, I have had no problems at all with how it works. As far as the batteries are concerned, you might try Genuine AW Batteries at RTD Vapor. I personally use the Panasonic IMR CGR18650CH in all my 18650 devices and they have worked flawlessly to date. RTD is one of the best battery related vendors in the USA....

update: I started using this ego -t mod "only" with my vivi nova tanks and making my own 1.8 ohm coil heads and it works OK. It appears that the pre-made coil heads are not marked correctly. What i thought was a 1.8 ohm coil head..was actually around 2.2 on my multimeter....I guess I'm really spoiled to the great taste and flavor from cartomizers. My 1.8 ohm cartos still work better on my regular ego batteries than the ego-t mods that we have. This last batch of cartos i ordered from a supplier i never used before were nothing but junk. There is nothing like the taste from a cartomizer that works flawlessly...I'm in vape heaven with my little ego batteries and a good vaping carto....Still don't understand why i can't get that flavor with this mod???

I'm sorry I didn't keep up with this thread (sidetracked). Just saw this post tonight. Hubby and I have 3 control heads between us...all working beautifully. They are all the "upgrade" ones with the black button. We got them at My Freedom Smokes. We both use carto tanks and get amazing flavor and vapor...and plenty of crackling from happy cartomizers. Neither of us care for clearo type carts like the Vivi Nova, etc.

My first ego -t mod was bought at My Freedom Smokes. It has the older white raised button. The second i bought came from Health Cabin in China..it has the black flush button. FourthRok what size ohm cartos are you using and where do you buy your cartomizers? I really do want to use cartomizers with my ego-t mod...and get the same great flavor like with my regular ego batteries. Like i said earlier...nothing compares to a great vaping carto!!! I so agree!!!

With the eGo T mod I like to use 2ohm single coils. Favorite ones are Ikenvape Platinum and Boge. I punch my own cartos for tanks because I find the manufacturers place their holes too low (by 1/2mm or more) which leads to flooding, excessive crackling noise and shorter carto life.

I Also have one, and mine works great! I have Samsung 18650-FU 2600Mah Battery in mine. I really think it is your battery. Does yours have a clear button on the controller? If not (opague white button)- it's probably a clone, not the original Joyetech product. I had a fake Ego-T 1000Mah, and it was crap, bad vapour production.
