I've been in a single-coil groove the past few months, mostly twisted, Clapton, and twisted-core / fused Clapton coils with my RDA's on my Joyetech Cuboid (the original dual 18650 model). So it's been a while since I vaped at more than 60 or 70 watts, and most of the time I'm around 50 watts. But I've been building more dual coil builds lately, which require higher wattages.

The problem is that I'm getting "weak battery" warnings on freshly-charged LG HG2 batteries when fired at 90+ watts, and the output wattage gets reduced while firing to compensate. When the batteries get to around 75%, the weak battery warnings start showing up even on builds around 75 - 80 watts, with the same reduction in actual output wattage, down to 60 - 65 watts.

The reduced power from the weak battery warnings is preventing me from enjoying my dual twisted and dual Clapton builds, since they all are very thirsty for power and vape poorly at the wattages I am forced to vape them at due to the weak battery warnings.

I have four LG HG2 batteries, all bought in February 2016 (just a tiny bit over a year). They have been paired and used only in my Cuboid. I used them pretty heavily, since I make my own juice at 1 - 1.5 mg/mL, and end up vaping around 15 - 20 mL a day. When they were new, vaping at 120+ watts was fine, and I could still vape at 100 watts with the batteries half drained.

It's probably time for new batteries, but in the past, my batteries have degraded by having their capacity reduced (what used to last a full day would gradually progress to lasting just 2/3 - 3/4 day. But capacities on these four LG HG2's haven't seen to be affected. A full charge lasted 3/4 - 1 full day when they were new, and they still last 3/4 - 1 full day now.

So I'm not sure if new batteries will fix the issue. Has anyone else experienced battery degradation like I described?

I'm not an expert so don't rely too much on me, but here goes. My understanding is that several separate things happen to batteries as they're cycled and as they age. One is cell oxidation, which lowers capacity. Another is an increase in internal resistance, which lowers the batteries' ability to provide a high current. As your batteries degrade you might see either or both problems.

It's possible that your batteries don't have much oxidation - they can still store a lot of power - but their internal resistance has increased so they can't let out the power as quickly. If that's the case, new batteries should solve the problem.

I date my batteries with a Sharpie marker and replace them after 1 year of use.
Peace of mind for 20€ a year. Done and Done.
Cheers

Why? Do You own too much money? Don't bogart your money, my friend...pass it over to me...o_O

Some batteries can last much longer than a little year...

Check them...with a good charger...like the MC3000...or something less expensive like the Opus or so. The Ri is a good marker...for battery health.

They only cost about 2 cents per day, each, for a years use. Less than my DIY. (Spending for 2017 as of today = 0€)
However, you come to my island and you are welcome to as many used batteries as I have. (I'll buy the first round as well.)
After a year, I find they need a rewrap or have lost capacity or begin to be noticeably warm. I'm cheap, but I'm more lazy.

Cheers
