Have an eVic head that is part of the recall (device ID falls within the range) that I just recently took out of the box and started using from a vendor that no longer exists so I emailed joyetech support to see what can be done and their response just blew me away.

Here is how they describe the recall issue (in bad chinglish)
"Confirmed by laboratory of joyetech, due to components change in production, eVic produced during 2012-12-16 to 2012-12-18 may have a functional defect---the control head will delay its work after you press the enter button."

We are not going to cover the unit since the problem of shutting down unexpectedly when pressing the button has nothing to do with the recall, it is due to age (all in very poor chinglish) This is after them having me send a pic of the Device ID to confirm it is one that was part of the recall (what was the point)

Maybe I should have said the issue was Delaying to work after I press the enter button instead of shutting down unexpectedly when pressing the button.

What a joke... There was less than 2000 puffs on the total puff counter at the time of notifying them and the recall was specifically for the issue that it has. Guess they consider less than 2000 puffs old age when it comes to Joyetech crap.

Is the device not functioning?

From their website, it sounds like they are doing the recall using authorized vendors. It's unfortunate that your vendor is no longer in business, but perhaps there is another one (a B&M, maybe) that could handle your replacement?

I don't know the legality of "recall" in the e-cigarette mod world, but in the car (and other industries) a "recall" typically means a safety issue and, if you have the model that is affected, they are required to fix or replace it ...whether or not you are actually having the problem specified (or, as in your case, even another - although possibly related - problem entirely) ...they still have to honor the 'recall'.

I'd push the issue with them. It won't guarantee you will get your issue fixed (shutting off unexpectedly), however, as they aren't required to fix anything outside of what the recall specifically states ...but the fact that you are having another problem doesn't get them off the hook either.

Is it shutting off or going to sleep? I have an Evic 2600 mah and if I don't use mine for say 30 mins it will go into sleep mode. 5 clicks later it wakes up...

Just shuts off exactly as it should being defective like they acknowledged in their recall notice.

I have already steered over a dozen people away from their products and spoke to many long time vendor owners (friends) so it's their lose. I will continue to advise all potential buyers to stay away and purchase a Zmax or SVD instead.

The kicker is that since they did not replace it I have a nice unit to demo of how well their products work. They want to not acknowledge it is defective so I don't tell it is a recalled unit. You would think a smart company would not want defective units out in the wild, but luckily I have one to show off and I keep it at 30% so it shuts off and buggers up the time and settings consistently, when they see the low under 2100 total vape count that is all they need to take my recommendation on the competition. I am actually enjoying this defective unit now.
