juice cooking in a tank

With carto tanks becoming more and more popular I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing your juice tasting different as the tank goes down. I just started using the syringe tank and it holds a whooping 7ml. I can fill it and vape for 2 days... which is good buy maybe not so good. By the end of the second day, I've noticed what juice is left is darker. I'm thinking that prolonged exposure to a firing carto can "cook" the juice so to speak, or at least change some of the composition. I don't know that I'm noticing a drastic change in my juice's flavor but when I just filled my tank, I took a syringe and sucked out what was left (about a ml) and filled with fresh juice and notice it's tastes a bit fresher.. lighter maybe.

Any thoughts on this?

Yes! Since the coil(s) is(are) not at the bottom of cartos, 'heavier'/older joose will collect at the bottom. Tank cartos are more forgiving since the 'feed port' is (or should be) right down dere just above the bottom cap. But, nonetheless, you will still get the 'heavier' joose collecting there.

'Bout every three or four refills, I'll blow out the carto to minimize that condition. I've actually have seen a refill being darkened by the 'sludge' in my tanks.

So yes, you are correct in your observations/tastes!

I agree. It seems to be significantly worse with my darker and tobacco based juices.

It's a quick way to steep juices. LOL I've noticed it too and sometimes I like it better and some flavors not as much. Equipment does make a big difference. I have some clear eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartos that I have to reduce the flavoring %s by 50% because my mixes taste way too strong in them. I don't understand it at all. I could see it if different volts were causing the differences but that isn't always the case.

I wont even use a carto tank any longer donnah or filler type Carto's, I noticed what you did a long time ago and it really effects the juice and makes it totally change after just a little bit in my opinion. The juice that doesn't get vaporized flows down to the bottom and goes back into the tank, plus the filler in a carto gets a small black burn mark on it and the juice also seems to touch this and flows back down and into the tank. I do love Atty tanks though and using them I dont seem to have this same issue and the same with using bottom feeders and just Atty's all together. Even just using a carto this happens with inside of the carto so for me it's Attys all the way plus I like the cleaner flavor of an Atty, with cartos there is an artificial TH to me as well and this is from the filler, as well as a filler taste a lot of the time. Atty's rule in my vaping world and have for a long time now and cartos are just Bleh to me.

Are you guys using dual coil low res cartos? I know I use boge single coil standard res cartos and have no changes myself. And at 5.2 volts it appears to stay cool.

I'm not so sure that's all joose getting darker. One of the reasons I quit using syringe tanks and moved to ghetto tanks made out of 6ml plastic bottles is I found the rubber syringe seals were degrading and coloring the joose - toward the end of the tank you could taste the rubber.

I figure not all seals degrade but I know the seals in the 20cc syringes I'd been getting at Tractor Supply do.

edit: I had another thought - I can change the carto in a ghetto tank without emptying the tank (you can see this trick in the video below). I'll bet the tank I'm using now hasn't been emptied in two months - and I haven't noticed any real change in flavor.

I can't use the syringes from tractor supply.. they reek/taste like rubber to me. I use medical (human) syringes from the hospital where I work. They are the ones with the thin, flimsy plunger but they work fine and no rubber taste.

Yeah, the syringes at TSC aren't real great for tanks. I do like the plastic bottle tanks, though.

I also stopped using the syringe tanks due to that rubber taste after a several weeks use. The MV tanks I now use have Delrin caps which have yet to deteriorate after a couple of months. So I know that the 'dark' is from the joose, not the caps.

The ECF syringe tank project was fun though. It did lead us to the saddle straps!

Truth be told I think the plastic bottle ghetto tanks are superior in every way to syringe tanks - I can swap cartos without emptying the tank and instead of filling the carto the way Kenny does in the video I just put a dry, punched carto in, put my thumb over the battery end and squonk the filled tank five or six times to fill the carto, then just top off the tank again. I syringe-fill the tanks themselves and the one I'm using now has been in service since about October. Worth a try if you've got any 6ml bottles laying around

I blow out my cartos and tanks...a lot. In any kind of clearo, as soon as I notice a darkening at the bottom I blow out a good amount before topping off. It makes a big difference. Some may see it as wasteful, but I don't consider getting rid of burnt juice a bad thing
I have more of an issue with condensation weakening the flavor than anything.

Thanks for the video link Wizard! I never knew tanks could be made with 6ml bottles. Not that I want to turn this thread into a "tank" thread but do you get any air leaks and then flooding in this tank? I like how you can squeeze the bottle to get those cartos that won't wick to work. I put a fill hole and screw in all of mine and if I start getting dry hits, I take the screw out and let some air in... squeezing sounds much easier.

I got into my4jewels smoktech tank co-op and was able to get 5 DC tanks for $18. I'm not noticing any flavor changes with them like I did the syringe tanks..I thought I didn't have a flavor change with the hospital syringes but maybe I did just a little bit. I've got lots of cut polycarb tubing and grommets so I won't be buying any tanks for awhile.

These big tanks that hold a lot of juice for a couple days worth of vaping.. I was wondering about the same juice being in contact with a hot (it's firing so it's got to get warm) carto and changing the juice. with a small tank, there isn't as much juice and I have to refill much sooner so the same juice isn't actually in the tank for too long. I guess it's like a big pot of stew sitting on the stove and cooking and cooking and cooking, after a while it's not going to taste good. I think I'd rather refill a little more often and have fresh juice than have a whooping 7ml sit in the tank and cook for a couple days.

I notice a flavor change when the juice gets low, but in my experience it goes back to normal after I top it off again.
