Hi all I'm having a problem tasting my favorite juice now. I love Vanilla Tobacco but after a couple of months vaping it, it seems to have lost the flavor it had. I'm beginning to think I got 3 dud bottles of the stuff. Could it be my taste buds aren't working right? This is very perplexing to me and Idk what I should do. Maybe go with something different for a few weeks? I know they have different tobacco flavors where I get the Vanilla Tobacco from. I did try a small bottle of a Chocolate with this order and it was very good. Just not something I would want for an all day vape. Anyone else ever had a problem with the taste of their favorite juice changing flavor on them? Very interested in what some of the more experienced vapers have to say about this please!

It could be one of two things:

The idea of an all day vape is largely a myth. There are very, very few people who find one juice they fall in love with - and stay in love with it for an extended period. You or your taste buds just might be bored and it's time to change things up.

Don't know how long you have been vaping but this could be a case of vaper's tongue - that mysterious phase people go through where their ability to taste their regular liquids just goes flat. Same solution: time to change things up.

This happens to me every now and then. I never know if its the juice has changed, my tasters, or my devices. I usually change flavors, try new vendors or flavors, or vape unflavored for a while. Sometimes the juice that I loved never tastes good again and sometimes its good again after a break. I think its weird and can be frustrating too.

I have found it best to keep a rotation of different flavors daily to keep the mind and taste buds active and interested, especially over long periods of time.

Also, over time, our own physiology does change after quitting smoking, and we detox all of those chemicals to use to kill the tastebuds, olfactory senses and that adhered nicotine to our cells. We physically and chemically change the longer we are free from cigarettes.

Once favorite juices, that were beneficial to use sticking with vaping and staying free of the stinkies might, and most likely will, lose favor with our flavor senses. Even our bestest vendors whom we started with might fall from grace.

Rotation is the key. Also, try to reach beyond your beginning flavor profile, branch out and try a few different things. When I began, I was strickly a non-sweet tobacco vaper -- I didn't want any sweets, and couldn't tolerate it. I didn't want fruit or dessert, just harsh, smoky tobaccos... then I received samples of mixed tobacco with fruit flavors and some more dessert tobaccos... and now I enjoy the fruity and dessert type vapes more than what I originally started with.

Once favored flavors are tucked away into the zombie apocalypse chest and I'm looking into all fruit blend vapes :)

We change over time, and not all juices can survive this change. Find what is best for you, and sample abroad to stick with vaping and to enjoy the life of an ex-smoker.

I am coming to believe that the ingredients used for juices are simply not efficient mixers. I've had juices taste different and had different levels of nicotine at different times from the same juice probably just because everything isn't blended well so you get pockets of this or that in it. And yeah yeah I know all about steeping, I'm even experiencing this with something I've had sitting on a shelf for three months now so save any lectures about steeping. I'm just starting to think that the ingredients used, pg, vg, nic and flavoring sometimes will simply never combine perfectly to create one consistent juice, and that there will always be pockets of pg or vg with more or less flavoring in it (or in complex mixes, some flavors but not all flavors) and that's just something that we have to live with because as far as I know there isn't any alternative to the pg/vg mixing.

Thank you all for your responses. I think my taste buds having changed due to not smoking anymore is spot on. I have a few samples that I have gotten from ordering that I just threw into a drawer. I tried the Chocolate Covered Cherries and that was some nasty stuff. I sure wished I had gotten a 30ml bottle of the Chocolate Fudge Brownie. It tasted like a Kahlua drink called a Mudslide. I ordered some juice from Heathers Heavenly Vapes called "Vapin Chimp" a banana tobacco. That should wake my taste buds up. If not well I have been meaning to try their juices anyway. If not I will just go ahead and order more of the Chocolate Fudge Brownie from TVR. I think I may need to shop around some and not just have one vendor though. Thanks so much again forum. You all have been so helpful. I hope I can be as helpful as I gain experience. I'm 4 months into vaping and have already learned a lot. :)

Yeah I thought I was doing something wrong in how I seeped. I did it like a few forum members have suggested and even went a few days longer. No difference with the Vanilla Tobacco even when I leave it in a dark closet with the tops off over 5 days. Shaking it up 3 or 4 times a day. Nope, it's not seeping that;s my problem. I also agree that there may be inconsistent batches. The vendor says every batch is hand made fresh with every order. I can see how that could happen with a 50/50 single shot juice.

Hey op,

Everything said has been solid advice. To add to it I would recommend trying to not think about vaping for a while and do something that will totally take your mind off of it. I know for me if I dont put it down, ill vape and not even know I am doing it. Brush your tongue while brushing teeth a couple times a day. Just more suggestions.

There are a couple of Youtube videos on this very subject. Supposedly after initially quitting analogs you taste bud reawaken and then go into a period of remission for several months where you taste is virtually gone. Your sense of taste gradually comes back again after a few months.
I am experiencing the same issue now. Juices that previously were flavorful and strong, I can barely taste now. The only exception is some of the stuff I make myself with cinnamon and peppermint that knocks your socks off even if your taste buds are dead.

Even without smoking, tastebuds can change, or be effected by diet. I switched to low carb eating years ago, and went through this, there's a phenomenon known as "carb tongue", which believes that a diet heavy in carbs, especially glutens, and sugar will coat the tongue and desensitize other flavor profiles. When I stopped eating carbs and sugars, I discovered that I LOVED pepper, when I never liked it before, and that many vegetables that had no flavor, now were delicious - like eggplant and brussel sprouts.

I think I may try a cinnamon one myself..It may or may not work but worth a try!

To the OP:
Go with your first instinct--switch out for a new flavor(s) every once in a while. I have my faves, but I won't vape them continuously; at the most, 4 to 5 days. I like a little variety, so I order different liquids from several vendors. To me, that keeps all my favorite liquids fresh to my taste when I go back to vape them.
