Do you mean juices you buy, or juices you make? Most commercial juices don't require steeping unless they may be a super fresh batch, in which case you may need to wait a bit.

There is no "one" method of steeping, even in DIY, everyone has their own method. I use time, not heat, not agitation, just time and the occasional shake. I don't "air" my juices much as I use Distilled water in mine, so it may evaporate. Sometimes it's good to let them breathe, but not overmuch. Also, even in DIY you can find some stand alone flavors that are good to go, "Shake and vape" or whatever one calls them. So it's a very individual method, that new DIY folks usually need to figure out what they feel works for them best. Once you get juices in a rotation and get some backup juice, well, I do find that just time steeping works best for me.

Unless you get very "fresh" or just mixed storebought though, there shouldn't be much need for steeping. Some custom juice makers will make it from scratch based on what you request, and those juices often require some steep time as they are mixed to order. Hope any of this is useful.

I've read that most E-juices need to be aired and steeped.
Is there a proven way to keep track of that?

Best way I know is to keep a spreadsheet. You'll know what your made or bought when and can make notes about things like flavor over time to refer to in the future. Some improve with time, some don't. As flavor is all subjective to begin with there's no table or app to refer to for guidance. Just your own experience.

Thanks for the info, but... I'm asking about how to keep track of airing and steeping. Date started, date it will be 'done', etc.
You only need to air if flavoring has alcohol in it. Your flavor will also evaporate. Steeping depends on what flavors you use if a diy mix, for commercial juices will depend on where you order from.

Fruit flavors --- 5-7 days of steeping. Shake twice a day at least. Don't let it breath.
Creams/Custards --- 10-15 days of steeping. Shake twice a day at least. Don't let it breath
Tobacco Flavors --- 15--up to a month of steeping. Shake twice a day at least. Don't let it breath
Creams/Custards combined with fruit flavors ---- 10-15 days of steeping. Don't let it breath.
You have to let your juice breath only if it has alcohol. If that mix you'll be letting to breath has fruit flavors in it, don't let it breath for over 20 mins and no more than once a day or you can kiss your beloved strawberry goodbye. Been there, done that :p
