Why is it so ridiculous? I was specifically responding to this:
Attitudes change on a personal level, not as a whole in society, just to clarify that. I don't believe in this thread, after seeing what I saw, that 100 years down the road, this will be appropriate. It isn't now, it wasn't 100 years ago and it certainly won't be approrpriate next year.
My "extreme" example of the Victorian era is pointing out that attitudes DO change over time, and to say otherwise IS ridiculous.
Want some less "extreme" examples?
1. 60 years ago smoking in a plane was not just acceptable, it was normal.
2. 100 years ago it was perfectly legal to smoke ..........
3. 150 years ago surgeons didn't wash their hands between the mortuary and the birth ward and any sugestion of "germ theory" was considered insane.
A bit more close to home:
* In Australia the only place you can buy a "porn" anime comics is a specialised store and it's in a sealed wrapper.
* In Japan you can buy the same thing from a vending machine
It's worth noting on that last point Japan has one of the lowest "sex crime" rates in the world. Canada and Australia, with our "prudish" attitudes towards sex, have some of the highest.
I fully support your right to disagree with me as much as you'd like, but to say morals are absolute and unchanging is just silly.
