So...last week I got the bug to start vaping. My bf and I are both needing to quit smoking. He is going the chantix route which I cannot do for various reasons/desires and I know I cannot go cold turkey. So I checked out this site and others and discovered that E-Cigs are not the gimmicks that I once thought they would be. I smoke about 1/2-2 packs a day depending on what I am doing and how much time I have on my hands. And like anything else in my life I don't venture into anything shyly.

The first leg of my journey took me to the local tobacco shop which sold the E-Health E-Cigs. They wre out of them until this Tuesday. I have since come to find out they might not be the best purchase to get started with even given their affordable price.

The second leg took me to the local Waterbed supply store who sells 3 varieties of E-cigs. I can't remember what the other two varieties were but I was liking their Luci model. I didn't care for the price tag of $100 but if it helped me quit this disgusting habit so be it.

So today I decided to stop at a gas station that sells these disposable Krave E cigs just to give them a whirl. If they were absolutely disgusting than I might not want to spend a ton of money on vaping. It was love at first drag. So far I have not had an analog since before noon today and puff intermitantly on the Krave. I take about 3 puffs every 1.5 hours and am good to go. Hopefully I can kick the habit. I think I may actually like vaping as much if not more so than smoking. I hope the Joye 510 can live up to the Krave.

I got on this site and researched people's views on the Luci and I wasn't impressed with what I am hearing. For $100 they better be pretty darn scream worthy for me to even think of buying them.

So long story short somehow I came upon the Joye 510 from Cignot on this site. It came with a charger and basically two full cigarrettes and come pretty cool color combos. I also bought some Marlboro liquid, some liquid tea, some cartridges and some things call drip tips which I have no idea if I will need them but they were only $2.50 (if someone could tell me in simple noob terms what to do with them I would love to know)...all of this for under $60 including shipping. Oh and I accidentally got one manual and one automatic battery. Maybe that wasn't a bad thing afterall so then I can see what I prefer.

I look forward to getting to know some of you and will be waiting on pins and needles for my Christmas present to myself to arrive. I hope I will not be disappointed.

Welcome to the ECF community. The Joye 510 is a very good starter kit. Check out Gourmet Vapor, Vaperite, PureVape, or FreedomSmokeUSA and buy yourself several sample size bottles (3ml to 6ml) of juice in flavors that appeal to you, and hold off buying larger bottles of juice until you find flavors that you like. And, Good Luck!

It sounds like you've made a good initial purchase! I think you'll be happy with the 510. I'm not sure how much juice you bought or what nicotine level. If you don't have more than 30mls of juice, you might want to buy more. Don't be afraid to try out other flavors, too.

You use a drip tip when you are directly dripping juice on the bridge of your atomizer. Word of warning: DO NOT DRIP USING YOUR AUTOMATIC BATTERY! The automatic battery is not sealed and if juice gets inside it could ruin your battery. Only drip with the manual battery because that one is sealed.

Great choice with Cignot and the 510. You will probably like the manual better than the auto....the auto can be sound and wind activated so take care...
Dripping you can read up on here. You drip drops of juice onto the atomizer and vape vs. using the cartridge or a cartomizer. (I prefer it)
Welcome to ECF !!! Tons of fantastic info here in the stickies....and wonderful people to answer questions.

The drip tip is used for dripping.
Only do this with the manual battery, the one with the button.
Remove the plastic cartridge that has the white filler and put it aside. Push the drip tip onto the atomizer. This is now your mouth piece. Drip 3 drops of e-liquid through the drip tip into the atomizer. You should be good to take 6-10 puffs before dripping liquid again.
Here is a sticky to read on dripping: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/66848-guide-direct-dripping.html

I, too, jumped into the e-cig world with all four feet. But... that makes sense given that I'm a cat and all...

Like others have said, grab different flavors of juice in small sample sizes... and don't be afraid of non-tobacco flavors!

After vaping tobacco-types for a few days (yes, days) I found my taste buds had started tasting again. Now I'm a MAJOR fruit-vaper.

Great ideas guys. Now I am a little bummed out I didn't go with the Ego vs. the 510 but I can always upgrade the battery if need be.

Thanks for all the help on the dripping. Sounds like an "at home activity" vs. trying to do it while driving. Now I am glad I got it. I will let you all know when I get my kit and how I like it. As I said, I am already hooked on the disposable one I have so I can't imagine being disappointed in the Joye 510.

Thanks for the replies thus far!

Don't be bummed! You're still getting a great intro PV and everything that fits on your 510 will fit on an eGo. Give yourself some time to get used to vaping and everything that comes with it, then upgrade if you want to. Besides, if you do decide to upgrade later, all you'll really need is a battery or two and an eGo charger. The charger for your 510 won't work with an eGo battery.

For now, just focus on playing with your new kit and getting familiar with it. Experiment with different juices and different vaping methods and the two most important things of all:

Have fun!

Vape your head off!

The drip tip can be used as a mouthpiece, too, and they fit on the end of the atomizer or cartomizer, depending on which you're using. Personally, when I drip (not too often due to the extra hassle), I take off the drip tip, drip into the atomizer, and then replace the drip tip. I don't like getting juice in my mouth (from inside the drip tip), don't always remember to blow at the top of the drip tip to force the liquid downward, and I like getting the juice into the atomizer quicker, instead of waiting for it to drain down from inside the drip tip. Drip tips don't get liquid built up inside, either, if they're only used as mouthpieces.

Sorry you didn't get an ego, but you'll have all the parts in your kit, so you can just buy individual eGo batteries. The eGo 900mAh battery will last longer than the 650mAh eGo (before needing to be recharged), and the 1000mAh will last longer than the 900mAh. My 900 lasts for about 9 hours and my 1000mAh lasts about 12 hours, with constant vaping (like 1 to 2 drags per minute average).

You can get the eGo 900mAh batteries individually at litecigusa.net for $21.95 plus $2 shipping. This is a great supplier, as is Cignot, but LiteCigUSA has lower prices, has more parts available, has a lower shipping fee, and a rewards program for future savings. They both ship the same or next day. LiteCig ships from PA, and Cignot ships from IL.

Or Goodprophets.com sells eGo 900mAh batteries for $21.99 less a 5% discount using coupon code "TVCfriend" and ships from PA the next day.

Then there's Liberty-Flights.com in CA, shipping fee $2.99, where you can buy the Riva 510 (750mAh) kits, when they're in stock, which isn't very often. They are generic eGos with a few differences, but still have the longer battery life before needing to be recharged, several color choices, has a rubber button instead of a recessed plastic button, and is cheaper to buy, which means to me they're manufactured with cheaper parts. Some people might disagree with this, but it's common sense to me.

Liberty-Flights.com also has eGo 650mAh kits for $51.96 after the 20% discount using coupon code of ECF, with several choices of colors, but they're currently not selling any individual 900mAh eGo batteries.

A higher mAh means the battery charge will last longer. The lengths of the eGo batteries are also longer with the higher mAhs, but the diameter is the same with all three eGos (650, 900, and 1000).

The above information is only for your future use, if you ever become interested in buying eGo batteries. Most people start out with the kits or batteries that need to be recharged very often and then upgrade to an eGo, which will last all day or longer, depending on how often you take drags.

Welcome to ECF and happy vaping!

Here's a bit of info that might be useful:

Every drip of liquid dripped into an atomizer will be good for 3 drags, if those drags last about 6 to 7 seconds each. So, 3 drips into an atomizer should get you 9 drags, and then you'll get a burnt taste and will have to add 3 more drips.

Using cartomizers, instead of atomizers, is an alternative choice, if you don't like dripping. There are lots of threads about cartomizers, and you can find a ton of info by searching for cartomizers doing an advanced search (at the top right) and "search titles only" to narrow down your search.
