Welcome! Are you using it yet?

Just one thing--if you slip and smoke, no big deal--just pick up the vaporizer again and keep going.

Some of us go over instantly with no problems and no regrets. Some have a few problems. Some, like me, need 3 full months to make the switch over to vaping. Persevere and you'll get there eventually!

Thanks, and YES. I've barely left the eGO alone since purchase, really. I was still smoking on day one, then had a couple more on day two when the battery ran out before I was ready for bed. Bought another kit the next day for backup (I guess you never know when the eGO charger might breakdown, right?) and the extra ARO tank came in handy too, when the tip broke off of the first one. Two whole weeks no smokes since then, astonishingly!

I still have two packs of cigs staring at me from the dresser, but they're starting to look more like enemy territory instead of the comfort zone. Into the trash with them, very soon!

Well done. I used similar gear, and was off cigs in a weekend. Still have a half pack and haven't touched it in almost a year.
You'll start fooling around with equipment, guaranteed. That's ok.
Don't forget there are hundreds of good juices out there. If you get discouraged by the one you're using, try another. I'd definitely recommend getting different flavors in your inventory, to avoid boredom and perhaps help with vaper's tongue, if it hits you.
Ahlusion, Highbrow, 5Pawns, POET.... Not to exhaust your possibilities.

And, to your point, backups are very important.

I'm afraid you're most likely right about me, but I'm going to test out my newfound self-discipline for the next couple months. It'll be tough but I'll try to be tougher. Thanks for the wave!

PS - I'm no stranger to Geekville. UNIX SA/App Support/TS Manager since '92.

Windows and NOS geek since '91...nice to meet you fellow geekville resident!

erm...if you count the DOS programming...I am afraid to admit to '87

Thanks! Little posts like this give me hope it'll stick...and yes it's a great feeling! Still a little hard to believe, even.

I personally believed it would take me about 6 months after starting to vape with a decent kit before quitting analog sticks... Boy was I surprised when I was able to pull that unlit smoke form my mouth and put it down on the desk indefinitely only after 12 days of vaping. 6 month mark is 8 days away now.

DOS programming was fun. That was back in the days when one could just skip the logic graphics and jump cold right into programming and it would work after correcting 2 typos and one forgotten coma (which was just another typo, really...)

Welcome to the forum and I must admit a little jealous that I don't have a MadVapes in my town.

Thanks! There are friendly folks at this MV, and it's a nice place to chat, sample, learn, and put hands on the kits. It's entertaining to meet those vaping-athletes with their half-pound lightsabers and full-body smokescreens, too. I'm not too sure I aspire to that level (yet). Anyway, hopefully there's a comparable venue in your neck of the desert.

PS - Arizona native here. Tucson-born, and lived all around the valley until '90. It's been long enough that I think the heat would freak me out.

The good news is, you're in the right place for help and support. The bad news is you're already infected.

"If you walk in the house of the lepers, do not blame the lepers for giving you their disease... it was your choice to walk through the door in the first place." -Me
What a choice of words

Guilty of infection. It itches something fierce, and more stuff is needed (although there probably is no cure for that). Thanks for the good news, anyway!

Thanks! And the juices are already calling me. I'm running about a dozen samples now, including a couple Lion's Head low-cost premiums. Also I ordered a few from ITCVapes after reading a big thread here...letting them steep now. Didn't take me long to figure out that tobacco flavor is optional, after all. I've heard a couple of names you mentioned, so I'll likely be swinging by the online stores soon enough!

Well worth checking them out on-line. I live in the country, so sadly don't have any vape shops nearby. Whenever I visit my old home NYC I really enjoy popping into vape shops, sampling juices and hanging out with the vapers.

The best advice I can give you is try the new gear you get for long enough to have a good opinion of what is missing or what more you would like, then research it on here before planning the next purchase. I have often changed opinions 2-3 times back and forth before pulling the trigger.

Welcome to the forum, so glad to have you here. I started vaping three weeks ago and have the itch to buy something nicer than what I have. I started with the ego and it works just fine but I'm really loving some of the setups that others have on here. This is the greatest bunch of people around and there is always someone ready to help with whatever you need.

EXCELLENT ADVISE! My rule of thumb regarding gear is an item has to go on a list and I cant purchase it for 1 month. Most often, by the time the month draws near, I have already found something "better". This alone has saved me $100's.

I still have not purchased a high variable w/v devise (I have a few MVP's). With the new DNA40 I may pull the trigger (once all the reviews come in and the item I decide on has passed my 1 month rule test).:)

Thanks, Ninabeena...I'm definitely feeling the friendliness. It's no surprise though, having read several hundred pages of threads before posting. Great bunch of folks for sure. I'm also interested in a new gadget, but I'll be waiting a bit. This eGO is so far ahead of the no-nic cigalikes I failed with a few years back...it's more than fine for now.

Did I mention I'm interested in a new gadget? (Slaps self)

Oh, great! (scuttles off to investigate DNA40)

Seriously, that's a good rule. I'm making a (hopefully short) list of candidate upgrades now, but no buying before Christmas! The wife will probably howl if I steal her chance to gift me with cherish-able vapeware. She's very happy to see me replacing the old habit with a new hobby...as long as I don't take it to obsession levels! Even then, I'm sure she wouldn't want me going back; I just want to keep that happy smile on her without inducing eye-rolls.

the DNA40 will also have TEMPERATURE control; the newest advance in e-cigs. They'll also have a DNA25 with the temperature control later on. The advantage is that is will be more economical on batteries. Look for PBusardo on Youtube. The video is about 3-4 days old. I'm totally getting a DNA40 pretty much as soon as it comes out, which is unusual for a guy who normally waits 6 months after a new technology comes out...

Welcome!!! I kicked a 36 year habit 10+ months ago. I haven't craved one in months. If I can do it so can you. Good luck!!!

Thanks, Moaufan! I think this is the best chance to quit for good, ever. And every time I read a note like yours, that feeling gets even stronger. Congrats on your success and I hope to share it!

Oh, Torch, that video's an hour long! I'll have to take it in segments. But at least they conveyed the basic concept in the first 15 minutes and it's certainly an attention-grabber (even for a newbie like me). Here I was just gearing up to understand the electric math, and something as fundamental as setting a thermostat may change the whole game. Neat, thanks for sharing! I'll keep an eye on this one. I'll be watching for your early-adopter impressions (hopefully before Christmas)!

I know it's long, but PBusardo videos are really fun to watch and very informative. I'm making my own box for the DNA40.... hopefully before Christmas as you said!
