Just though I might share this with the new members forum. I was a bit daunted by mech mods when I first got into vaping so I decided to post a quick break down of a simple mech. 
From left to right in top to bottom: Switch housing w/high copper brass contact pin, Battery tube, IMR 2250 mAh battery, Center tube w/ floating center pin assembly, Atomizer base w/Kanthal A-1 specific resistance wire wrapped on silica wick, Top cap, and Mouthpiece. And finally, the the entire unit fully assembled.
