Hi Everyone! …originally went to the "burning cartomizer thread...wowzers..longuest thread I’ve ever seen..lol..but that’s what got me here..that burnt taste…! I started at the beginning of the thread..read quite a bit in the start, but then jumped to the middle, read a bit in there..and then, well, just when I thought “I got it”…lol…I’m just not too quite sure now…
I’ve just begun vapin, as of June..and I do love it and never want to look back…however..i have questions. I tried to resolve most of them on my own, via your wonderful…informative and friendly forum..but I still have a few points of confusion:
I have an “cloud maker optimal” and a cloud maker essential!
The optimal is just a longer battery..they are supposed to be the same thread- 510
But, and this is where I get confused…some of my cartomizers don’t fit on my optimal battery..the taller one! I can’t see a difference, but they just don’t fit!
Other question is..i have the clearomizers with the wick..and..sometimes…they taste burnt! …I clean them out..there’s a bit of black on my wicks…it happens intermittently…I’ve cleaned them, changed the wicks..and the little screw in coil burner ! I don’t really like those.!
Then I came across the clearomizers with the tube..no wick..been using those for awhile…now, they also occasionally emit that same “burnt” taste!!! I changed the little Burner/ screw in thingy on those too…but soon after, it returns!
Now I want to try the “cartomizer”…I think!! The ones that have no wick..no tube, just like a sponge type filler that you drip your juice into? And that’s what I’m wondering about..! can I just get those and put them on my battery and be all set?...or, is that a whole different kit I have to get?..
Thanks for any input!

Didn't know what a 'Cloud maker' was until I did a search. The old CE4 top wick junk. The top coil burns of the juice faster than it can travel up that wick from the bottom so you get burnt taste. Not sure how handy you are with tools. Consider Mech Mods and rebuildable RDA's and RTA's. or at least some of the better glass tanks with bottom coils.

Your batteries are standard eGo type batteries. Yes, they are 510 threaded. Not real sure why your clearomizers aren't interchangeable... that's just odd. Unless you have some damaged threads.

Anyway, yes, you can get any standard 510 cartomizer and it will work on your batteries. You can also look at carto-tanks. It is a glass tank that you put over a cartomizer. In turn, the cartomizer needs to have holes punched in the sides so that the juice can get from the tank to the carto. Gives you more vape between refills... check out IBTanked. They have the tanks and they carry Smok cartomizers (under "accessories"). You can get them pre-punched (recommended) or you can buy a punch and do it yourself... you can also cut a slot in the carto with a dremel tool if you prefer.

There are many, many options out there. Typically the bottom fed clearos are a bit better than the top fed, because... gravity works... ;)
Hope this helps a bit, and if you have any more questions, we'd be more than happy to help you work it out.

I'd suggest staying away from rebuildables and mech mods for the time being... that leads to a very deep rabbit-hole.

Also, I suggest clicking the link in my signature "Bad's Awesome Blog". It contains several write-ups by a member here that is full of useful information to someone who is new to vaping... hell, it's good for those of us who have been vaping for years... you won't be sorry for reading through it!

Good choice thinking about cartomisers. Many old timers here use them because they work well, for them.

If you try some of the ECF suppliers you'll find much better equipment and prices. Those batteries you've purchased typically go for no more than maybe $15 or less each.

Come back, ask more questions and read more and many people will help you on your way.

I agree with kaezziel. Stay away from rba's etc for now. I do like the aspire bdc Aspire Vivi Nova BDC Tank It does have the screw in atomizer heads, but as Kaezziel said, the coil is at the bottom so gravity works better. With top coils like what you're using you constantly have to tip them upside down to keep the wick wet. At first I thought you were vaping at too high a setting since everything was tasting burnt, but it looks like the cloud maker is a set voltage so that's not it. I personally don't like the cartomizers (tube with the batting inside), and never tried carto tanks, because they were very cantankerous when I started vaping, leaked a lot etc. The aspire bdc is super simple to use, and virtually problem free, and cheap. I've got a nautilus on order now, so haven't tried those yet. The link I provided is not an endorsement for nhaler since I've never used them, but many folks like them, I'm just currently looking for a new place to buy my things and that was the first link I ran across when searching the aspire bdc. I put it there so you could see what it looked like. Good luck.

Cartomisers work well and cost almost nothing, you should give them a try! I found they were a hassle to refill though, so I don't use them anymore. I use Ego batteries and I really like Aspire BDC clearomisers, they sell for around 6-9$ each and the replacement coils are 2-3$. No burnt taste, easy to clean and refill, and since they're pyrex there is no plastic taste/smell either.

Other than my RDA and RTA I still run the my I-Clear B and X.1, Aerotank (and mini) tanks since they don't make a leak mess like RTA's. whe being layed on there side.
Myvaporsore (listed supplier here) has a great selection and prices for glass tanks and replacement atty's. Of course, I have now started rebuilding those factory atty's also. Hay..I'm a Design Engineer by trade. I can't help myself...lol...;-)

Hi, Newbie! A belated welcome to ECF!

Added a bit of comments on your original post:

The CE4 types are ego threaded, and yes, there's enough difference in the way some of them are made that occasionally you will find one that doesn't fit right. When I find that to be the case, I use a 510->ego adapter which usually fixes things, like this:
    https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10003955/1473305-510-to-ego-adapters-for-e-cigarette-5-pack

Other question is..i have the clearomizers with the wick..and..sometimes…they taste burnt! …I clean them out..there’s a bit of black on my wicks…it happens intermittently…I’ve cleaned them, changed the wicks..and the little screw in coil burner ! I don’t really like those.!

The ones with the long wicks at the top are called "Top-coil clearomizers", or TCC's for short.
The ones with "The tube, no wick" are bottom-coil clearomizers, or (you guessed it) BCC's. They actually do have a wick, but it's very small and mostly hidden inside the coil assembly (The "Burner" as you call it). Most folks (myself included) find the BCC's to be much better than the TCC's. If you're getting a burnt taste, try doing a couple of "dry draws" - that is, draw on the e-cig without pressing the fire button. This will pull more liquid onto the coil. Also, though, these coils don't last forever; you do need to replace them, and how often depends a lot on how hot you vape them, what liquid you're using, etc.

Now I want to try the “cartomizer”…I think!! The ones that have no wick..no tube, just like a sponge type filler that you drip your juice into? And that’s what I’m wondering about..! can I just get those and put them on my battery and be all set?...or, is that a whole different kit I have to get?..

You can use the cartos on your gear, although many people would consider a carto to be going backwards from a BCC. But, give them a try! I don't know if these guys will ship to Canada, but there's a great deal on them here:
    Boge 510 XL Cartomizer - 5 pack

Another option is a "Carto-Tank" which is a cartomizer inside a tank filled with e-liquid. If you want to give these a try, you can find them cheap at the same site:
    SmokTech 510 DCT XL
    Smoktech eGo Dual Coil Tank
    SmokTech 510 DCT

Like I said, I hope these guys will ship to Canada.....

One other thing I would suggest is you take a look at fasttech.com. They have about every piece of vaping gear on the planet (except for provaris and reos) and if you look at the pictures, it's a great way to get familiar with the different devices (they do a great job of "breakdown" photos, so you can see how things actually go together!) And they DO ship to Canada (but it can take a little while to get there!)
