the problem is definitely people believing whatever the hell they hear through the media at face value.

a very similar example is Harry J Anslinger's prohibition for the last 75+ years.

i'm not rolling over, but i can't think of a plausible idea to spread awareness.
i believe, unfortunately, the only surefire way to educate is through television, because well, i'm going out on a limb here in saying this: the people who believe whatever you feed them aren't reading Time, National Geographic, or Reader's Digest.

It's really hard to keep your faith in a situation where it seems there is no hope. Knowing there are 238,000 members on this forum is reassuring though. We have numbers, and the science.

I think unfortunately that people will believe what they want to believe or are comfortable believing............

As I used to go to truckstops every day when I drove big truck-12 years over the road and used to listen to the conversations people were having and

they seem to believe what their emotions would let them believe even when you presented them with the facts of the subject being discussed.....

I believe as more real studies conclude, and more real evidence supports what we already know, the media hype will switch in support of vaping. Contradiction to popular belief makes great headlines and ratings. Hopefully, that comes before a bunch of anti-vape laws being signed into policy, as it's easier to leave laws as they are than to change once written and signed.

I'm pretty new to this, though I try to stay informed with calls action and such through CASAA. I would hate for this great thing that might have saved my life to go down with regulations, bans, negative perceptions,etc...

It's a shame that common sense has become so uncommon. For anyone concerned, or even just curious, a simple Google search tells you what vape juice consists of. I searched that myself years ago, wondering how all that "smoke" could smell so clean and good. That's when I learned there was no actual combustion. Just a couple minutes is all it took for me to realize that walking through even the biggest of vapor clouds is not going to impact me in any way. Now, the very small percentage of people that TRULY have allergy sensitivities to juice ingredients are a different story, but that isn't really the issue.

Sorry to say it guys but Our Bought And Paid for Media And Politicians have Poisoned the minds of Smokers and Non-smokers with the goal of Protecting Tax Money And Corporate Profits (i.e. BT, BP, BM, BG....). These folks in positions of power have far too many chips on the table to allow vaping to exist, except in the hands of the folks that Pay Them (either directly or indirectly).
Just sayin'

So the 60-something woman who berates you for vaping because she saw on the news that it's "dangerous and potentially harmful" is solely being motivated by her political-economic loyalties?
Logic: missing.
Cynicism: in full force.
The 60 year old lady is a useful idiot. For the govt..

When the idiots who mistakenly believe I actually care what they think start babbling, I am more than happy to tell them I'll listen to their opinion on the harmful side effects vaping as soon as they can show me some actual evidence that it IS harmful. My doctor thinks I'm a rock star because I "Quit Smoking by Vaping" and that's all that matters to me.

I smoked for about 10 years and I have been vaping for almost 3 years now. I have had more people warn me about the dangers of vaping than I ever had warn me about the dangers of smoking. And most of the people warning me these days....are smokers! I can almost stomach it when a non-smoker says something but it's very frustrating when a smoker is smoking a cigarette and preaching to me about the dangers of vaping (insert smokers cough)

I sort of feel the opposite.

I feel like smokers have an excuse, and it isn't necessarily ignorance or malice.
It's more purposed self-deception, which can be excused to some extent.

Non-smokers who parrot the nonsense do so from ignorance or malice.
And I find that much more disturbing.

I would agree with that.Yes, vaping is IMO 100 times safer than smoking and I'm not giving up vaping anytime soon. But I also would agree that not smoking or not vaping is probably the healthier choice. That's why I said I could almost (almost) stomach my non smoking aunt telling me it's all bad for me.

The agenda is to kill vaping and protect the tobacco tax revenue stream.
The main asset that vaping has going for it is that is proven (so far) not to kill you at a rate at least 100x less than smoking.
Action plan:-
1. Make sure that ALL news items about e-cigs safety get maximum exposure.
2. Pay for a series of poorly conducted 'science based' smear campaigns claiming that e-cigs are not safe, and in fact are actually worse for you than good ol' tobacco.
This works on several levels. Those who vape will research the findings, and in most cases debunk them and move on. Joe public however will hear and believe fueled by their suspicion of this new tech, "See!? I knew those smug bast**** were too clever for their own good. Fundamentally, if you throw enough excrement, some will always stick.

When someone asks me "have you heard about that recent study..", I used to reply with the debunking. But as I'm saying it, I realize to them I must just sound like I'm in denial. So now I just say don't care.
