I have seen a lot of people who wanted to try e-cigs to try and quit and at the same time save money. Are you saving money?

This is not directed at those people as I am not one of them.

I turned to vaping as a way to be safer to those around me and to clear out my lungs from the tar of traditional cigarettes. I catch myself at times saying I need to quit buying all the crap I buy to try while vaping. I just looked at my savings since I quit and I am way ahead. In many more ways then just dollars saved over supplying my cigarette habit. I have compiled the following list and wonder if anyone else has added it up?

Money put into e-cig devices/juice/replacement parts/and mod materials and shipping to date is $800 roughly. I am at a point where I can vape for about 6 months without needing anything.

I have saved in addition in the following ways.

Heat/air condition --- No more turning one or the other up or down because I was either hot or cold from going outside to smoke. No more opening and closing doors.
Electric bill has dropped an average of $104 a month

Food: I have been eating less, skipping lunch is now very easy. $200 a month average

Gas: I no longer have the heat or AC full blast with the windows down. Averaging 3 MPG more. I drive a V8 Maginum

Work--Stopped going outside to smoke, I am in sales so this really helps. I used to take a 15 minute break average every hour to smoke, hit the bath room and vending machine. Saved $8 a week in vending machine and have made my sales bonus by the 2nd week of the month. This allows me to take it easy for the 2nd two weeks of each month. Personal time PRICELESS

These are just a few things that have come to mind as I sit here. So in reality e-cigs have not only taken away the cough/smell personal disgust I used to have with cigarettes. They have actually paid for themselves 2 fold and left me with extra money in my pocket. Granted I have lost about 2 feet in counter top space from all of my supplies.

These are the things people need to add up when they catch themselves complaining about the cost of carts or juice. Your doing something wrong if e-cigs haven't saved you a ton of money.

Just my two cents

Personally, I'm spending just about as much vaping as I was smoking. Although, I was not a very heavy smoker; only about 4-7 cigarettes a day. I would spend under $100 a month. This of course is not taking into account the money I spent on air fresheners for my car, febreeze for my clothes and a higher water bill as a result of washing my clothes far more often.

Taking all of this into consideration, though, you cannot put a price on good health.

I wil be vaping until I die. I hope I live to be 100. :D

Homeish now
Know I've saved money from Yankee candles/ Fabreeze/ air fresheners....know it sounds silly.

But smoking Inside the house..was kinda my dirty secret, one that the "man" knew..but hated. So we both said nothing about kinda thing.
I liked smoking while researching and writing papers, didnt want to Stop working just b/c I was stressed and wanted a cig every two mins (is working on masters so Lots of that) So I would when he was out of the house for a few hours.
But before he came back. I'd run around cleaning up evidence and covering up the smell of my smoking.
Light several candles, spray the carpets and fabric in the room I was in...air freshen the whole whole...plus the plug ins that where always going.

Those "freshening" things a freaking expensive!

Vapes happily IN the house now :)

Being able to taste the food I buy will be an increase in the value I get for my money anyway.

Plus that whole not having to go outside in below freezing weather while it's sleeting...that's worth a LOT.:)

Oh! Speaking of going outside in the weather, vaping is much less expensive than getting a roof built on my deck so that I don't get rained on while I'm outside smoking (which I was seriously going to have done).

I am a much heavier vapor then I was a smoker. I used to smoke around 33 to 40 cigarettes per day. I would chain smoke when I was able to smoke and I would go without when I had to.

I now vape all day, everyday, from 4 different units. I am very happy with the models I have and have no need to build a mod. I haven't lost an atomizer yet and I vape from a USB whenever I can.

I guess it all depends on how much you used to smoke and how much the packs cost each. I took the low amount of daily cigarettes I smoked to average my savings. I smoked Marlboro Lights at $6.72 per pack on average, up to $7.26 per pack now since December. That's $13 per day to spend on average x my 90 + days of being smoke free. Now if you quit smoking and placed that $13 a day into other items and then spent money on e-cigs on top of the other items I can understand how you can think it's more expensive or if you keep buying units. I bought all four of my units at the beginning. They are all 510 models, some cheap and some name brand. I don't clean them, I just follow simple rules told to me by a veteran Vaper. Well one rule really, never switch flavors in the same atomizer. Vape 100% VG or 100% PG with indifference but keep the flavor the same or expect the unit to be short lived. Added of course no cleaning needed if no flavors changed.

I dumped about $1000 in vaping in my first month! Still, this translates to about 6 months worth of supplies, with maybe the need for $100 more for juice. Not too sure as I only really started recently.

That may seem like a lot, but with current NYC prices, $10*365= $3650. So I haven't saved yet, but I know I will be soon. And really, I quit for health reasons, so even if I paid more, it would still be a win.

If I added it all up my ole man would take my computer away and cut my card up and disable my paypal account! I really don't want to know anyhow. I just curved all my other spending. No shoes, no clothes, no purses and no to anything extra. It has been worth it though.

Same here, lol I went crazy the first few months. Had the ban hysteria for awhile. I am finally to where I can spend about $50 a month just replacing what we use without lowering our stash any. I do have enough to keep us going quite awhile if a ban does hit. Hopefully it will be enough until we find another way to get what we need or to learn how to make it ourselves.
