I posted over in the tech area and nobody has any idea what could be the problem, The only thing they suggested was to see if anyone was aware of a bad batch of attys from the supplier i got them from. I get all my 801s from PS and never had any issues.

I am simply posting this to "ASK" others and CaSH if there are any known issues with 801s? ( This isnt a PS issue so please dont start any drama!!!! lol ) anyways......

I ordered these on Order date: January 3, 2010, i bought 10 of them. I store them in my storage box until i need a new one.

Anyways, I was vaping on my 801 using my SB at 6 volts with 801 adapter. I was about to go to bed so i took the cap off and what not to wipe everything down like i always do. Got it nice and clean and figured i vape a few more. Dripped a few drops on and nothing! I checked everything out and everything seemed fine. I guess maybe that atty had enough and decided to die on me, ok no biggie. I grab a new one....

So i drop 2-3 drops of juice on the atty, take a prime puff ( puff on it but dont actually inhale it ) i got a big prime puff and then went in for the actual 2nd puff, NOTHING! ok, what gives? checked everything out, everything was fine and still nothing...hmmm

Ok so i grab a 2nd 801, brand new again and do the same exact thing...and yet the same thing happens, Prime puff goes well but the 2nd puff nothing!

Ok i am getting ...... now...

So i grab my V2 and change out the batteries. I am thinking my SB had some issues or something? Throw on a NEW 801 and do the same thing and the same thing happens AGAIN!!! This time on the V2....Now i have lost 3 brand new attys and 1 older atty.

I tried all 4 on the SB and on the V2 and there all dead.

No POP, No sizzle, No sign that they burned out or anything, just complete silence.

Batteries are freshly charged, Both devices are clean, Both adapter work fine ( and so do the switches as i did the tongue test )

This is how my routine has been for months and never had an issue.

The only things i can say that have changed is i am using a different juice from time to time ( Halo ) and it is much thicker ( though it is NOT VG which is odd )

also, i noticed that with this batch of 801s, starting when i got them, vaping seemed odd. vaping didnt seem as strong, it almost seemed like i was using one of the HV attys...I kept trying atty after atty but still they seemed a bit weak....

I am just curious if CaSH or anyone has had any 801 atty issues with a batch right around the same period of time?

I am just really confused what is going on here... 40.00 down the drain in a matter of 5 mins is a bit much. Though it was stupid of me to keep poping attys on the devices and letting them burn out, I honestly didnt think they were burning out...

ALL of my 801 attys come from PS and they have always been awesome! and lasted a LONG time never had any issues like this. That is why i am so ???? about what it could be...

Any help or advice would be great! Thanks!

( aghhhh now i gotta use my 510 attys as i only have 1 801 left and not about to burn that one out )

Looks like the center pin on the atty is shorted out. That's the only thing it could be. When an atty burns up the resistance usually is higher or a completely open circuit. Are the center pins on the atty really loose? Can you still see the little o-ring between the center pin and the rest of the connector?

well i posted over here because i get all my 801s from PS and just wanted to see if there were any known bad batches is all....thats the reason for the double post....

I put the positive on the center hole on bottom of atty and put negative on the threads of attys, my volt meter is set to 200 with the little OHM symbpl ( sorry as i said, i dont know much about volt meters )

Now excuse me if this sounds stupid, but is there a difference in a atty shorting out and burning out?

If it burns out the coil usually opens and there's no connectivity from one side to the other. Same as a fuse. Short- There needs to be a difference of potential between the positve (center pin) and negative (threads) in order for current to flow. When short there is no difference of potential and current flows to ground.

in my opinion, high voltage must have ripped 'em up...I'm guessing...I run my last one at low voltage until ups makes a delivery...;)

Yeah but thats where i am confused. As i said, all my 801s come from PS and i have always used either 5 or 6 volts and never had an issue like this happen before.

I know HV mods burn up attys quick, but i only take 2-3 second puffs and thats all and since i started vaping i never had anything like this happen on HV or 3.7

I could understand if i was using different 801s or maybe this was only happening on one device but its not.

The only time I've ever seen an atty short is when the silicone o-ring is missing.
