So I got my Kamry KTS today.
Very happy with it.
first few hours, it worked fine, but then the atomizer started getting hot, so i stopped smoking for a bit.
then after I tried to smoke again, it will not start up? I recharged the batteries, and it still will not work.

Bought this mechanical vape on the official website, have my authentic code for it. So pretty sure it is not a fake.

Anyone know what might be wrong?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum aioky. We'll have to ask a few questions to see if we can help you figure this out.

First, take everything apart (unscrew the atomizer) and make sure everything is nice and clean and free from juice.

If you can let us know what type of atomizer are you using on it? Do you have another atomizer to try with it to see if it's the mod or the topper? Do you have another device that you can put the battery in to see if it works?

It could be a number of things. Two highest probability in my experience are that you're atomizer isn't making contact with the mod, or your battery charger isn't working.

Of course it could be something else entirely...

Either way, welcome again :toast:

Hello! thank you for the response.
I am using a KTS/ X8 atomizer
It came with the kit.
I am not using anything differently or modding it with any other accessories other than what was in the kit.
I only have one atomizer right now.
Really disappointed in it not working, but maybe its just me being silly.
Hopefully I can find a solution to this soon!

You might have a crappy cartomizer, go to a local b/m vape shop, see if you can check the Resistance of the carto in the tank. If its "open", you might have a crappy cartomizer. If so, get a couple replacements for the cartomizers, make sure they are for tanks (holes drilled in the lower part of the cartomizer). I'd buy a 5 pack at 1.8 to 2.2 ohms, ss finish of course since you are running a carto tank system.

My first thoughts are you may have adjusted the telescope so the battery is not making contact with the firing pin. Carefully scope it back down and press the firing button. If it still isn't working quickly scope it back up for safety reasons.

If this or other suggested fixes I would take it to your nearest vape shop. They will likely troubleshoot and fix it for free.

Thanks so much guys,
I think I know whats wrong...
When I first bought the product, I needed to charge the battery to full for a 8 hours straight.
I did not do that, I only half charged them, and started using them. Thankfully, I have 2 batteries
so charging that one up for tomorrow and to check if it's working.

Really should not jump into things.
This is my first mechanical mod.

But If it does not work, I will try your guys suggestions! Thank you again.

Any word on your situation? Thinking of buying one of these to practice on, but want to know the quality/functionality first! Thanks!

I have a KTS+ and know of the "kit" with X8. I don't really rate either very much. They are on Fasttech for about $40.

We had a vendor in the UK who bought them for £26 and sold them for £99.99. You can imagine why I never forgot about it.

KTS itself is a basic mech and does what it's supposed to. The X8 is similar to the AGR+ carto tank with an extra hole. I have some AGR+ tanks, they are OK. Mine are poly plastic and crack quite often....not liquid cracking, just cheap tanks.... (around the threads).

Hello guys, unfortunately, still no good results.
I'm still waiting for the batteries to fully charge, but they are taking quite sometime.
Really hoping I did not waste $42 for nothing. I will update for you guys later

It all sounds a little odd. The X8 is a carto-tank, have you got any other sort of atomizer to try.
Have you played around (fully) with the telescopic arrangement.
Does it have a side firing button... is this loose or stiff or accidentaly "locked" in some way.

It should be fairly unbreakable....

Ok - the batteries and charger could very well be the issue here. The no name batteries in kits and poor quality chargers are not well paired with vaping *especially* using a mech.

You need a digital multimeter or a charger with a meter to ensure you do not over discharge your batteries, if you used a half charged battery until it stopped working it is very likely you have done this. Also poor quality chargers do not necessarily charge all the way to 4.2v or can overcharge past it (also very bad to use an overly charged battery *especially* in a mech) you do not have any safety cut offs so ensuring all of these things are correct is on you.

My suggestion here is get a decent charger, 2 decent batteries and a digital multimeter. You can get all of these items very inexpensively and they are an absolute necessity for a mech mod. You will not be able to pinpoint any current issues without an ability to meter what is ACTUALLY happening.

yea.. these batteries are both dead now thanks to my stupidity haha.

Can you please recommend me where to buy these items? I don't want to buy the wrong kinds and mess it up again.

Currently using an 18650 battery, my charger is crap, been charging for 14 hours and still not fully charged.

The batteries I have are called IMR 18650 2000 mAh 3.7v

thanks!

Here's the ones I'm buying for my Kamry KTS

CHARGER:
Xtar MC1 Charger

BATTERY:
Efest IMR 18650 2000mAh Button Top

Will these be good for my Kamry?

Still looking for a digital multi-meter, so what would I need to use it for?
To check if my battery is still alive, or the voltage of it?
Sorry, I'm fairly new to all of this, may you please explain to me! Thank you very much!

Those should work fine, but...

You might want to get at least a two bay charger. They will handle one battery just fine, and give you some extra room for the future. You may find you have LOTS of batteries after a while :)

And while Efest does make a good battery, you might want to look at higher capacity ones, something like these:
Panasonic NCR18650PF 2900 mAh

Not a lot more $$, and nearly twice the capacity.

Higher ratings mean longer run times between charges.

Yes, the meter is to check the battery voltage. On a mech, you have no built in meter to tell you. When the vape goes away, it's probably past time to change out. You don't want to run them below about 3.2 volts, and without a meter, how do you know?

And it will be useful in the future if you decide to recoil or go to a rebuildable. Same issue, no built in meter, and you MUST be certain that the coil you put on - whether in a clearo or a dripper - isn't shorted. That's a quick way to a catastrophic failure, in your hand, next to your nose.

Thanks so much!

So Im buying 4 of those that you recommended to me
and buying this charger for them.

Ultrafire WF-139 - Battery Chargers

will this be okay?

and I just went to home depot and bought an Analog mulimeter.
These work the same as digital right?

also have a quick question.
Do I put the mulimeter to BAT 9v setting to check if for my battery voltage?

Keeping close to the same price, this is a better brand:
Xtar WP2 II - Battery Chargers

and comes with a car adapter as well, not a deal breaker, but a nice accessory.

I'd expect to see something like 20 V in the DC range for volts, not sure what you mean by BAT 9V, other than many analog meters require a 9V battery for operation.

And you might also want to do some reading down here: Batteries and Chargers for more ideas and info. :)
