Just Bought Ithaka Clone, Looking for NR Wire

I know they have some pre-built nr-r-nr wire but I can't find any I'd want to use, they are all too small and I know I'd hold the button down too long and burn through it in an hour. I have much better luck with bigger wire in my drippers like 28 or 26g so I was wondering what methods people have for attaching the non resistance to the resistance wire, twist it together and torch it? Also where would I find single strand NR wire that's big enough to use with 28 or 26g kanthol and not consume any power to be noticed.
