Hey guys! I just bought my first RBA. I got a stingray clone mod, stillare clone atomizer, and I used some 26g wire from the vape shop. Also using cotton as the wick. I wrapped my first coils and attached them using a YouTube video as reference. When I hit it though it's pretty harsh if I take too deep of a hit. Also, the e juice makes popping noises and kind of sprays off the coils and it's hot if it lands on your skin. Right now I'm using 0% nicotine ego happy taffy juice to see if it was just the juice, but it's not, it's still harsh. It doesn't need to be cleaned either I literally just bought it last night! Ideas?

There's a little art to winding a coil. I'd suspect that you coil has either a 'hot leg' or 'hot spot'.
Hot Leg - this is where the lead exiting the coil glows red when fired
Hot Spot - this is where the coil is not heating consistently across the coil length

Do Not Use your Device Until You Know That It Is Not Shorted Or Beyond The Limits Of Your Battery. Mech Mods Can Hurt You And/Or Your Property

If you used a cotton wick and it burned - throw the wick away and insert a new one. Cotton wicks do not heal, one burn and they are and taste like toast!

0.3Ω is a bit on the low side, i'd recommend you stay a bit higher than that to begin with, but when you replace your wick - make sure you halve the amount you use now. It'll wick a lot faster and you will likely not strangle it to death until it burns, which is what i think is happening now.

How do I make my ohms higher? Also how many ohms is a bad reading and could lead to a giant fireball? Haha

Larger diameter coil or more wraps or thinner gauge wire will all give higher ohms. Also you need to know what your battery can handle safely.
Read all you can on here and stay safe.

Man.. There's a fair bit wrong here.

You gotta go find someone, whether it's at a B&M or a friend or something, to explain to you a LOT of little details about building/firing an RBA. It's an advanced vape, and you REALLY need to know what you're doing in order to do it safely and effectively.

You said, "How do I make my ohms higher? Also how many ohms is a bad reading and could lead to a giant fireball? Haha"

You make your ohms higher by rebuilding your coils. More wire = higher ohms. .3 ohms is a pretty comfortable spot to be on a mech mod (in my opinion, your experience may differ), but if you're getting hot legs/hot spots, it'll never be a comfortable vape. Additionally, what type of cotton are you using? You mentioned that you boiled it. With Japanese cotton, and most organics, this is really not necessary.

An unsafe ohm would be anything lower than .2 (in my opinion, some other people are brave/stupid enough to build lower than that). At .2 you're gonna be going over your amp limit on your batteries (assuming your batteries have a 20A limit). Again, this is something an experienced vaper needs to explain to you in-person ideally, with multiple batteries so they can show you the differences.

Listen man, you can get all the advice in the world from guys here, but really you need to meet up with some other vapers who can sit down and give you a good little lesson on all the little details and things to think about. It's really important that you vape safely.

Don't assume its 20A it might be 10A or lower, then 0.2 is not safe.

The battery Im using is 18650 3.7V. It's the safest one that the store had the owner told me. I know it's kind of a lot to ask, but could someone please help me out and explain some things about ohms and what makes them dangerous, what I should me aiming for, etc.? I've been researching it a bunch. I'm also going back to the vape shop tomorrow to get some e-juice and talk to the guy there, who's pretty good with RBAs, but he uses .1 ohms.

whats critical on the battery is the amp limit, whats the battery have on it besides the size and volts? the lower you go with ohms the hotter the vape ie... bubbling and splattering juice at a .30 coil and a fresh batt your amps are high around 12 possibly exceeding the batts tolerance. be very careful the hardware your using is experienced only.
