I just picked up a starter kit and box of refills yesterday, and I'm wondering if there are some tricks to it I don't know about. It hasn't completely removed my desire to smoke regular cigarettes. It seems like I have to suck really hard to feel like I'm getting anything or if I just puff it looks like I get a lot of smoke but doesn't feel like it. Its also really hard to put down as it doesn't burn up like a normal cigarette. I got this thing yesterday and already on my third cartridge. Each cartridge is supposed to be roughly the equivalent of a pack of cigarettes and I never smoke a full pack on a day I'm not working. According to the book, the light will flash several times if you take too many hits off of it within a minute, but it will usually do this when I take one, long satisfying drag off it.

I spent $85 on the kit and a box of cartridges, which I thought was low compared to ones I've seen online, but on this site I've noticed several cheaper ones being advertised so I'm not even sure I'm getting the greatest deal. Its right at $20 for 10 cartridges which should be the equivalent of a carton. Before I would go to Kentucky and buy a carton of cheap ones for about $25, but many times I'd run out and buy packs here for about $6.

Hehe, I just mentioned this in another thread, so I'll just cut & paste. :p

"Are you using an auto or a manual switch PV? I was using mine like a regular cig at first & it wasn't really seeming to do much...

Then I saw an explanation of "primer puffs" on autos & that made a difference in effectiveness... I'm not sure exactly where I found it. Maybe someone else will remember where that info is."

(Also, try reading through the stickied posts here if you haven't. They are a huge help).

But basically, if you're using an auto, which is what it sounds like... (lights up when you take a drag rather than a manual where you push a button)... It helps to take a tiny puff - not an actual inhale- this is just the... primer. :) Anyway, take a tiny puff... that gets the atomizer warm. Then immediately afterward take your normal drag. It takes a bit of getting used to the double drag, but not long. Made a big difference for me when I learned that. (May also be why you're getting the warning light... sounds like you're trying to force it a bit.)

Uhm... you say "It hasn't completely removed my desire to smoke regular cigarettes." Well, it's an alternative... not magic. :p Some people start with a PV & never pick up an analog again. Others, including myself, have to go back & forth, at least for a while. You're getting used to a totally different sensation... Don't worry about it. There's a bit of a learning curve. You need to figure out the best model for you, the best nicotine strength, etc.

If I recall correctly the Njoy Npro is a DSE103... similar to this thingy I have here:
SSC7.jpg

If that's the case, you can see in the closeup of the cartridge that when you take it apart there a little plastic tube that holds the actual filler. See how little it is? Those type of cartridges do run out quickly because of that. Rather than getting pre-filled carts, it will be more cost-effective to get blank cartridges & some e-liquid & drop it in there. Then you can just add a couple more drops when it starts to run dry. That also gives you a chance to try out different flavors & nicotine strengths & such. A lot of the e-liquid suppliers have sampler packs where you can choose an assortment to test.

(I may actually end up with some blank carts for that model when my 510 arrives & would be happy to pass them along... will let you know).

I keep meaning to write up a review of that model. Seems there are suddenly a lot of questions about that one & I keep writing the same thing. Hehe. I think, ultimately, you're going to end up wanting something different - I did- but if you're stuck with it for a while, I'll try to motivate & get some guidance posted.

Hope this helps - Good luck & welcome - RR

Yeah, I'm interested in getting the cost down. The main selling point of this one though is that several gas stations around here sell it and the refill cartridges.

I haven't actually taken the refill cartridge apart yet, so I'll have to do that the next time I finish one. Do smoke shops and gas stations sell that stuff or do I need to order online. Either way, its probably going to have to wait until I get another paycheck. I went a little over budget going out for New Year's.

I did the same thing....in eary Sept I got an Njoy/Npro kit and was blown away because I didn't know e-cigs existed. I got it at Smoker Friendly and paid $75 for the kit and an extra $20 for carts. My experience was just like yours....no real vapor, not very satisfying. It was an automatic, which I didn't know at the time just doesn't work like the manuals with the button.

But....now I consider the $75 well spent just because it enlightened me and got me off analogs. A pathetic commentary on the Npro product but it's definitely an inferior product. Anyway, I came home and used the Njoy and then looked on the Net for something better. I found a supplier within 1.5 hours away and drove there to get my JOYE 510 and a DSE901. Those worked, and since the day I found those I haven't had a cigarette (about 4 months now, after 40 years of smoking).

Now I've got 2 Janty Sticks, a Chuck, and two Super-T's on order. This will work for you, you just need to find a good e-cig and some juice you'll enjoy. I just got my Chuck yesterday and am very impressed at the consistent very large Vapor output and length of time these batteries last. I also got a great image on it, custom made to please. :) Take a look at the Chuck sub-forum.

So look around, there's a lot to see! Read, read, and read. And be encouraged, this works! And it's fun to boot! Good luck!
