Hi everyone! My first post here and very new to this vaping stuff...two months, actually. I bought two Volt X2's and they arrived today. I bought one for my husband and one for myself, basically to use as passthroughs on our laptops. I had another passthrough from V2 and man did it burn through the carts and they always tasted burnt to me.

When we opened the package (like kids at Christmas) we plugged them in right away and I noticed that mine was glowing blue and his wasn't. Went on the chat with Smokeless Image and was assured that when it charges completely the blue light will go off. It has been charging for about 3 hours now and it is still glowing blue. I am using it as it's charging but it has me concerned that it hasn't gone out yet. Yea I worry to much...but it's my new toy!

My other question is the main reason we bought them is to use them at home and save the stick batts for work and going out. Is it ok to keep them on as a passthrough all the time or should they be unplugged until they run down?

Any ideas? Thanks! :)

Not sure what the blue light situation is. But it's fine to keep any lithium battery e-cig plugged in on a passthrough. If possible, never let them run down any more than absolutely necessary. Lithium batteries are not like the old NiCads that needed to be fully discharged to maintain in good condition. The more topped off a lithium battery is kept, the longer it will last you.

All vapers need a multimeter. Even if you only have a volt. Even a cheapo $10 meter will let you know the condition of your battery. If you can get your hands on a meter, take the battery off and check the voltage. A new battery might take a few charges to hold it's maximum capacity of 4.2 to 4.23 volts. If it's higher than that, you have a problem.

I'm unsure if the volt is regulated. If so, you won't see 4.2 volts on a meter. You'll see whatever it's regulated to, usually 3.4 to 3.7 volts. You might want to verify whether or not it's regulated before you try to asses its condition. If it's showing over 3.7 volts, you can safetly assume that it's not regulated.

Some chargers start into a trickle charge once your battery is almost fully charged. That prolongs the process and if your battery was low when you plugged it in, it could well take over 3 hours the first time. That's another reason not to use them until they run down unless you can't help it.

Also, make sure that whatever you're plugging your passthrough into can handle a 2A to 2.5A current. You can blow out your computer motherboard because the USB is only rated for 1/2Amp. Use a self-powered USB hub or a separate AC/USB adapter capable of handling a 2 to 2.5 Amp current load.

Wow...thanks Sailorman! I appreciate the explanation. It was funny...as soon as I clicked the mouse to post my question, the blue light went out so I guess it's fully charged. It is regulated at 3.6 volts. I will look into getting a meter and will keep it plugged in as a passthrough. It works nicely. My husband laughed and said it looks like a crack pipe LOL it's really big compared to the V2 sticks!

My understanding is that battery passthru's draw off the battery in use, not off the usb port ... the usb port just charges the battery in the background ... though you might want to verify that with SI. If this is true, you don't need a high output usb port as was suggested... you should be able to plug it into your computer ... the USB 2.0 spec says the usb port can deliver 500ma, which is sufficient for battery charging, but not for actually powering a cartomizer, atty, whatever. Cheers.

Mine glows blue while charging, light goes off when charged. Take about 3 hours to charge from empty when plugged in to a desktop USB port. It's a 650mah auto. I use it in the car, plugged in to SI's car charger, then take it in to the office with me. Works great. Lasts all work day. Nice compromise between the SI sticks and my big and heavy Silver Bullet.

I am very pleased with it! I bought the 900 mah auto. Every thing I have until now are V2 products which are fine and the carts fit on the X2...I Have a crap load of V2 carts to use up.... Very smooth vape and the battery lasts for hours and hours! My husband has been using his since last night and still going strong! Next thing I want is a tank for this thing!
