Hello all!
I have been vaping for 4 months now and feel 100 times better! But since a little over a week ago I have been having this pinching/dull pain around the area of my heart. I think it could be from vaping just due to the fact that it bothers me the most while after using my pv. Also there were a couple times that my battery died on me at work and I didnt have a fix for around 8 hours, and I didnt seem to have the feeling until I started vaping again. It could just be my head playing tricks on me and IT COULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH VAPING at all. The feeling isnt an "ouch im in pain feeling" just a strange sort of annoying pinch. I was just curious if anyone else has experienced anything simulair to this. I use 11-18mg 50/50 blends and pure pg. I use around 1ml a day give or take. My heart rate feels fine and I have no trouble breathing or anything like that. Anyone with any input would be great!

I'm 73 and have been vaping 20 - 24mg for over 2 years and haven't experienced any type of chest pain.

You didn't say what your age is and what medication (if any) you are on, and I'm not going to invade your privacy by asking.

However, you might want to check with your doctor to see if there could be any reason you might have any reaction, medication or allergic, to nicotine.

Also I've found that juices with cinnamon or menthol can be a bit rough after a while. But I'd check with your doc like was mentioned. I agree with all of the above. I went in for hernia surgery a while back and they asked me about my smoking and I said well I quit sorta, I use an electronic cigarette. The surgeon said to me congratulations on quitting. So hey guys a lot of doctors are getting on board here. I think they're seeing changes in people who have made the switch. By the way TruState I hope things work out for you. E-cigs have changed my life.

I've been vaping for about three weeks, and I noticed the "pinching" sensation (somewhat like mildly painful gas) as well, though not near my heart, but lower, on the left side, my *guess* as to what it is (for me) is that when I smoke a cigarette (particularly a RYO filterless) I do not inhale deeply, so the nicotine doesn't go very far into my lungs, whereas with vaping, I find that I can (and do) inhale quite deeply, so there are parts of my lungs that have never seen much nicotine that are now getting a good dose, and perhaps causing nearby organs to react. I started with 24mg/ml and found that was too much for me, then 11mg wasn't quite enough, and have settled on 18mg. I still sometimes get the "pinching" if I chain vape, but it seems to have mostly subsided, though this seems to be almost the opposite of your experience, in that it happened right away, and has lessened over time. It could (possibly) be my lungs reacting to the PG -- though I don't think that's it, but it seems related to vaping, at least for me. It's not a deterrent really, since I no longer cough up phlegm in the morning, though if it doesn't eventually go away, I may try to lower the nicotine further.

I have experienced some random pains that may be similar to yours. But I should point out that I have been to the doctor several times with chest pains when I was a smoker, thinking I was having a heart attack, but it was always just labeled as anxiety. It's hard to describe, but I definitely started experiencing some strange symptoms including various pains pretty much exactly at the one month mark after quitting smoking, and though I wouldn't be able to prove it, I am certain it is related to quitting smoking and/or starting vaping. I have heard that when you quit smoking, nerves in your lungs start to "wake up" and start acting up for awhile. This can happen at different times for different people, and with the complicated way nerves are wired in your body it can be very difficult to tell the origin of a pain. Pains from your stomach, lungs, or heart could all come off as "chest pains." It's just a few things you can think about, and likely it will pass before long. Of course seeing a doctor would be best, but then again they may just tell you it's anxiety like they do to me.

I noticed some pain in the sternum area maybe a week or two ago, down towards the bottom of said bone area. I started taking some prevacid and it cleared right up, so I'm thinking it was just acid reflux related. The best way to describe the pain was like a sore muscle I guess. But where it was at didn't super concern me since it was lower in the chest, but a few googles later and I had seen something discussing acid reflux, so treated it as such and it cleared up. Don't know if vaping caused it, or not smoking caused it ... or some mix of the two. But taking the prevacid and it hasn't come back.

As always, medical concerns should really be handled by a MD, but I know so many don't have the needed coverage these days, but if the problem persists, don't delay.

I was reading a post recently, I don't remember which vet commented but they mentioned muscle pain in the chest due to the different way we are inhaling while vaping. It's much deeper obviously since were able to breath now. And it got me thinking that yes, I have noticed some muscle soreness (at times) and it does feel like I've been using new muscles for the first time or I really hit the gym hard. I tend to inhale much more deeply now than I have in years as well as I chain vape alot and I think my chest muscles are are actually starting to be used more and or strengthening. Could this be part of it?

I've been vaping for over two years also and recently settled on a favorite vape that is a tobacco flavor in 100% PG. From time to time I get a gas like annoying pain that can vary from below to above the heart and sometimes around the sternum or between my shoulder joint and the heart. It's mild and more annoying than anything else. It's also something that I have experienced off and on for decades. It's usually related to gas or gastric causes that relieve themselves naturally.

It's not related any way to exercise. In fact, I can ride my stationary bike 4 miles, go for a walk, or do some heavy work around the house and it goes away! My doctor explained how those pains in men that aren't worsened by exercise are usually gastric. He did an EKG on me just to make sure and it was normal. He also sent me to a cardiologist who did another EKG and an ultrasound of my heart valves and muscle wall condition. She pronounced me healthy and ordered a $3000 dye based treadmill test with one of those revolving CAT scans that looks for blockages "just in case". She had to protect herself from liability by her own admission. I declined that test. She agreed but said she had to recommend it for her records. It was a waste of money without the presence of exercise related chest pains, IMO.

I'm thinking about exploring to find a PG/VG mix that I like that also will work well in cartos to see if it goes away. This is becoming a common complaint with people who vape 100% PG and mixes with a high PG content. Shortness of breath or a sighing/urge to yawn feeling is also being reported by enough people vaping high PG mixes to make me want to experiment with mixes containing more VG.

Interestingly enough, there are high VG vapers who also report symptoms. I think it's more of a need to find the mix your body likes. Vaping produces lactic acid in your body just as exercise does (muscle soreness). That's relieved by drinking large amounts of water to wash the lactic acid out of your system.
