As I was doing some research on my Gf's Mod as it was being wonky. I realized that the board was made by a company that makes them for all variations. So does that mean the only real difference is the Housing they are in for many of the Mods out there?
When a company like joytech or eleaf needs an electronic board they will probably specify the funcionality they want, a design firm might choose the chips and write the firmware and a chip foundry will create the board. May be the larger ecig companies have their own programers. There must be a few leading companies the ecig companies work with. One of them is evolve in the US. I read somewhere that Texas instruments is in the market, then there's a chinese company called yihi. Which of these companies own their own foundries? I don't have a clue, probably doesn't matter. With mods I think about form factor, build quality, and the features of the board.

There are a few good boards out there used by several companies.
Most advertise the chipset.
There are also a few companies that make proprietary boards.
