Just found out Casey has Diabetes

Really sucks, just found out today our dog Casey (in the picture with me) has Diabetes, he is almost 7 years old. In the last week he was drinking a LOT of water and could not control himself inside, but has been potty trained for over 6 years. Took him to the vet today and his glucose was at a 389, should be 140 something or lower. We now have to give him insulin shots twice a day, 12 hours apart right after he eats. Really is going to change our life with this. It is not a big expense to do the shots, but we just have a lot of lifestyle changes to make for us and Casey. Not really a rant or anything, just wanted to share that sometimes crap happens and we are stressed and move on. But I am still vaping and not smoking.

So sorry that Casey has diabetes, but I'm very glad that you got it diagnosed quickly. Even if it does mean lifestyle changes, diabetes can be very well-managed in pets (My mom has been giving insulin shots to her diabetic cat for a number of years now).

Well it has been a month on insulin, and he is doing good. Back to normal. It is rough having to feed and give him shots twice a day, but we love him, so we just adjust.

I had a diabetic dog. it does change your life somewhat, but it becomes routine. I'm so glad he is doing well. these animals...they love you when no one else does!

my Aunt has a diabetic Cat ... the shots will become routine ... Casey is probably feeling better already with all the extra love he is getting.

We had a terrier that was diabetic. He lived a long and pampered life 7 years of shots and he eventually passed in his sleep at the ripe old age of 13. I think he rather liked going from getting his bowl filled once a day to 2 meals.
