Greetings and Solicitations!
(Disclaimer: "Greetings" is the sole salutation for those places where "Solicitations" are against the law.)

I wish I'd found this forum before buying anything . . . oh, well, I don't think I've gotten off to too bad a start.

It's reached a point where I have to quit analogs. I've been going through at least 3 packs a day. I haven't really been 'smoking' that much -- I generally light one, take a couple of puffs, lay it down, and the next time I want a puff, I automatically light another one. It's not uncommon for me to have three or four burning at once.

An e-cig seems to be what I need since they don't burn up when I'm not paying attention.

Of the dozen or so suppliers I found, BluCigs seemed the most geared towards first-time users. I e-mailed them some questions, and they always responded the next day, so I ordered a starter kit. It arrived promptly, everything looked great, and when I returned it, they processed the full refund quickly.

Why did I return it? Battery life. Rather than using 1-2 cartridges before needing a recharge, I found it necessary to replace the battery two or three times for each cartridge, and I often had to resort to analogs because the second battery died while the first was still recharging.

For my next attempt, I decided to go strictly by price. Vaporleaf had a KR808D-1 kit for $29.95 base price and a 20% Cyber Monday discount. I think this must be a very new company since my customer ID is two digits, and my order number was very low three digits. No PCC and no choice of flavor/strength of cartridge, and although I've examined every bit of product and packaging, I could find no manufacturer's name. Since the manual is written in Engrish, I assume it's from China. It's a very basic kit (2 batteries, recharger, 5-24mg cartomizers), but it's my foothold into being analog-free.

It's doing better than the first one I tried, but I do see the need for at least one more battery and recharger and/or a pass-through.

I admit to being a little confused.

The manual says: "The first charging must be kept for 8 hours, and the charging for regular use shall be kept for 3-4 hours." I thought it was important to remove a lithium battery from the charger as soon as the light turned green (the manual says it's 3.7 Volt lithium battery).

The manual also says: "If the indicator light will continuously flash for 20 times, please replace the battery components with a fully charged." and: "When the indicating lamp continuously glitters 10 times of opportunities remiriders please not To have excessively frequently to use." I thought this translated to: 10 flashes means the battery needs to rest and 20 flashes means the battery's out. But when it flashes ten times, it doesn't matter how long it sits, it won't work again without being recharged.

Oh, well . . . those are minor things in the grand scheme. For the way I generally smoke, each cartomizer is lasting about as long as a pack of analogs, so I'm going to be saving an absolute fortune!

I just wanted to let you know there's a new devotee, and I'll be picking your brains from time to time on how to proceed from here! :)

Ive found those "safety features" like cut off's can be a real pain. I too started with Blu and then a device similar to the KR808 ( actaully thought it WAS a KR808 until we had a meet up and someone corrected me ) and soon found they just werent going to perform as I needed.

Next up was the 510 which I was completely happy with but after hearing people rave about the eGo loong enough I broke down and bought one of those as well. Now one of my 510 batteries is permadead and I vape on my eGo exclusively.

I am a string supporter of manual over automatic as the manual gives you more control. The only time my eGo blinks at me is when the battery needs recharging and I never need to take a drag long enough for it to cut off because the amount of vapor it produces in 3-5 seconds is ...well...ALOT.

A Low Resistance atomizer added to the mix and Im getting CLOUDS of vapor with each hit. ( though I am still researching LR atomizers at this time to find the best bang for the buck. They are notoriously easy to kill )

Welcome to the forum and I hope all your vaping experiences are good ones

Welcome to ECF, you'll find the necessary info and advice here to vape forever, (away  analogs)

Your story sounds soooo much like many here there should be a form to fill out.

I bought a <fill in model of piece of junk> from <fill in scam supplier> and was overcharged
<fill in $$$$$$> but didn't get any vapor until I found ECF, bought a real PV with good juice.
It was my story too, (and I'm sticking to it)

:laugh::laugh:

Welcome to ECF, Fantwriter. There's an amazing world of knowledge on here. I also use a Kr808 but I'm not familiar with Vaporleaf. I know Vapors Etc and Vapor 4 Life both carry Kr808 products. I've ordered from both and both are extremley speedy with shipping. V4L has an amazing supply of products, Vapors Etc has less choices but better prices.

I'm pretty much a newbie and bought into all the hype you're gonna hear about the eGos so recently bought one of those too. In all honesty I like my Kr808 better. I would suggest you invest in some XL batteries for your KR808..they last much longer before having to be recharged.

Good luck and let us know when you start stalking the mailman. ;)

Wow! Thanks for all the words of welcome! :)

I suspect I'm going to order a manual KR-808D-1 battery next week. My greatest fear is that it might be a step too far away from the normal smoking experience. For me, smoking is a ritual, and I don't know how far I can stray from the ordained path. It's all about the tactile experience, and the moment of distraction which clears my thoughts, which is why patches and gums were totally worthless. I was surprised to find the extra weight of the e-cig actually feels better, more solid, more comforting.

I intended to get the 510, but Vaporleaf didn't have them in stock. If this industry is like so many others I've dealt with, the lowest prices are from companies with limited selection and low inventories.

I've looked at the eGo and know I could never handle it -- my smoking fingers don't open wide enough (nerve damage).

Thanks all!

There's nothing wrong with a kr-808, mistressnomad is a big fan of that model and many people hold her opinions in high regard, perhaps a few extra batteries and a PPC is in order (but a passthrough is a good start). an eGo weighs about the same as an empty zippo and is about the size of a mid-size cigar, I've altered my "smoking style" from between the index and middle to between the thumb and index to be able to accomodate its added width. I've smoked cigars before so it wasn't much of a transition.

But when I buy some for my family, they'll be getting the 510 kits, even with the short battery life.
My reasons are simply because for beginner vapers the resemblance to a real cigarette IS important. despite what I feel is better.

Where was I? oh yeah......

Should you decide the the manual battery isn't for you just get some extra batteries for just in case and try to avoid flooding the ecig and you'll be golden.
