I just got my new 401 kit from Electronic-Cigz.com and I applaud the speedy shipping. I literally just took everything out of the box... the atomizer hasn't even had a chance to soak up, but already I'm liking the slimmer profile (to my other ecig, the noble 510) and the green light on the end.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, thumbs-up electronic-cigz. I can't believe how excited I am just to try out some new hardware.

A week later and I'm still loving the 401 but I can't drop my 510 either, they're both good stuff!

The one problem I've had is that this morning, I took my battery off the charger and it started blinking. I pressed the button and it stopped and I thought nothing of it. But then 5 minutes later when it was connected to the atty, it started blinking again and activating the atty with every blink.

Good to hear you're getting on well with it (if you're like me, you'll soon disgard the 510)

I've heard tales of the Dragon 401 manual self activating like that. Might be worth your while having a look round the TrueSmoker section of the forum TrueSmoker - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat & the M401 section M-401/402 "Mini" & M403 Super Mini - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat to see if you can find a solution.

Time to clean your batt and charger while you are at it.

A buildup of e-juice around the batt contact will short it out, causing the batt protection to kick in (the flashing light).

The "ring" at the end of the batt fills with the juice. Using a toothpick or a twisted piece of paper are a good way to clear it. Don't use metal like a knife or pin to clean as that might damage it.

Hey Ty,

It doesn't happen too much, but it sounds like it could be a faulty battery. We will send you a replacement out under warranty. Please mail back the faulty one to us when you receive the replacement.
Please PM or email us with your order #, and your address.

Thanks,

Your mom said not to say...
Personally I would go with a 2pc unit either a KR808D-1 kit or a GreenCig kit. I use the GreenCig and it's the best model I have used straight out of the box. The carts last much longer than any other that I have used. As you can see I have used quit a few and some not listed, lol! The KR808D-1 is a good choice to go with since you can always get some GC carts to try with that battery since they are compatible. The 2pc models are a lot less hassle, no need to mod anything to get acceptable performance, easy no mess refill, and all the other problems. Do yourself a favor and check it out early in your vaping career, I spent around $150 or so in my search until I nailed it with the KR808D-1 then the GreenCig. I would estimate that 99.999% of us have more than one model that we own and use anyway so it's not unusual to have a few different models experiment and have fun it's still cheaper than 4 cartons of cigarettes a month.

What do you suggest as a main PV then?

I usually recommend the penstyle (DSE801, BE112) or a DSE901 for a first kit. I own a 401 and it is a fun, reliable device. I like it better hooked to a pasthrough. The additional voltage provides a warmer vapor. Because of the small cartridge size, I often drip or dip the exposed atomizer bridge to ensure a good draw everytime.

I left analogs behind with a penstyle device with the typical screw-in batteries. Recently, I scored a free DSE901 kit from Good Prophets in a competition. I definitely could have quit analogs with that device. The two primary advantages of the 801 & 901 over the 401 was better throat hit (IMO) and larger cartridge capacity (particularly the 801 models).

I primarily drip a BE112 atomizer on a 6 volt devices. This is my current vaping nirvana setup. I do not generally recommend a custom device - often referred to as a 'mod' on this forum - as a first device. I think it is good to experience the e-cig as it was designed, make a mental list of all the frustrating things about it, and use that list to seek out a device that eliminates some of the daily hassles and expenses for your next purchase.

I love the 401/2 etc, I've not had a ... for a month since I got one - you've got to check out Intellicig's site - they are the masters of these with fantastic quality all round, just have a look at the reviews and rep the EVO has on this forum (marc01 for free p+p, plug,plug!)- and soon there'll be a PCC available from where you got yours - if you have one already make sure you let us know how you get on with it (who needs a 510 with one of those eh?), I'm gonna treat myself and get one for Xmas!
