Just got a Reo Grand and asking for tips etc

I was fortunate enough to acquire one of these in excellent shape at the Phili Vapefest... Compliments of Big Daddy Harley...

He showed me how to use it... and it's working like a charm. It works better and is more enjoyable than anything I have ever used. It was worth every penny.

I have an LR Joye 510 on it.

Perhaps there is a thread somewhere that answers most of the questions. Please direct me to it if you can. I couldn't find it.

1. I was wondering about Maintenance... When/How often do I replace the tube?
Is it easy to replace the button when necessary?
2. Same with 6ml Bottle Cap.
3. Sometimes it misfires... I slide it open, touch the battery and it works great again. Normal? Or is it a battery issue?
4. Do Cartomizers work well with it?
5. Any tips for switching flavors cleanly?

Hello lasttango welcome to the forum
1 The tube should last a long long time .I have them on my site if you need a new one or you could just send it to me I would be happy to replace it
2 same as the tube I have them if you need them
3 A dab of noalox on the tip of the positive pin should fix that if it doesn't let me no
4 Yes they do there is a section in this forum all about cartos on the mini and grand
5 I never change flavors but most people flush the system with hot water or vodka I have used both.

I'm not sure that that will ever be necessary -- but if so -- all you need to do is pm redeyedancer -- he makes this mod and he wants everyone to be happy with their Reo.

Weekly maintenance includes putting a dab of Noalox on the firing pin (see user manual). This will ensure your Reo fires smoothly.

4. Do Cartomizers work well with it?

Yes, 510, 901, and I believe 801 cartos and attys work with the Reo.

5. Any tips for switching flavors cleanly?

Sure, get a few extra 6ml bottles and fill em with flavor of your choice and then switch out...also, if you want to taste flavors you can drip directly into the well.

Disclaimer: ECF instability issues have prevented me from posting for the past 15 minutes or so, so you probably have decent replies already, but here's my contribution for what its worth:

• The tube should last a long time unless you pull & twist on it a lot when changing bottles. (I do this and have had to replace my tube once since I got my Grand in late December)
  
• The button should never need replacing. It's just a little plastic cylinder.
  
• The bottle cap should last indefinitely unless the plastic threads get worn away over time from bottle changing. It's a normal bottle cap with a hole drilled thru the top to allow the feeder tube to run thru it.
  
• Clean the firing pin with a q-tip and vinegar to remove any oxidation that has built up on it. Then apply a small dab of noalox with a toothpick to prevent further oxidation and promote a better electrical contact.
  
• Cartos work great.
  
• If previous flavors are lingering, you can soak your bottle, cap, o-ring, and tubing in PGA.

One thing, where is the firing pin? Do I need to remove anything to get to it?

The "firing pin" is the metal tab that the button pushes down to make contact with the positive end of the battery. Welcome to the land of the REOnauts - hope you enjoy your Grand!

Just take the battery out, look inside at the top, and push the firing button. You will see the firing pin push down. There is a little sharp tip that makes contact with the positive end of the battery. You put the noalox on the very tip of the firing pin.

Hey Tango, glad you got a Reo, those little plastic box mods just can't compare, eh?

If the noalox doesn't help, it's probably the battery's protection circuit. Some of those protected batts aren't able to handle LR atties. You can try a SR atty, if it doesn't misfire you found the issue. Get a better battery and you can use LR atties, the AW brand are best, either protected or IMR(high drain) will do fine.

One other thing you might want to do is take some electrical tape and wrap once around the battery to make a small tab, which makes it easier to remove the battery. It also snugs the battery in there a bit. You can see this in Rob's tutorial video #1 on the reosmods.com site.

I wanted a cocobolo but rob only had material for doors (or bodies don't remember which) and not both.

The Noalox worked great.

The thing is working too well... First time I got a sore throat chain vaping in a while... and a nic buzz. I am only at 10-12mg.
I think I'll have to go lower with this Reo.

A cartomizer question:

What are those black ceramic cartomizers... I bought them once, but forget what they are?
I ordreed some again and I got some clear, see through CE2's by accident. They are horrible... heat up so fast... 2.8's...

any advice? What are the cartomizers I want? I wouldn't use them at all, but the one black ceramic works so nicely on my Reo.

...and where do you guys get your 6ml bottles.
Can't seem to find any in stock anywhere.

I don't believe you can bottom feed CE2's on the Reos. At least not very well.

I'm vaping from a Boge 2 Ω carto now, and I dig it.
