Just got a twist-already a question

Hi, Was going to get a starter kit, but decided to jump ahead a bit, so got a twist with a smoktech ego dct and the recommended S.T. punched XL dc cartos (4). Zero experiance with any ec's. Put the twist on the charger--steady red light for 10 min., now it flashes green every 5 secs. or so. Does this mean it's charged? No instructions with anything I have, so kinda flying blind. Don't even know how to fill the tank--I'm sure I can find something on that (just got this 30 min ago) Maybe I should have got a starter kit for the instructions alone. Great site, thanks.

The tank I can't help you with. The charging I can. The power supply is checking the battery to see if it is charged. You are not going crazy. When the battery is fully charged the light will change to green, a steady green. That green that you are seeing is the power being interuppted while it is being checked.

I hate that they don't send instructions or even put them on the web with a website address to get the instructions...Grrrrr

Edit to ask: Is the light red with green flashes every few seconds?

Hi! Yeah, it blips back and forth from red to green. You'll notice it more toward the end of charging. As far as I know, none of the kits come with very good instructions - that's what ECF is for.

DCT tanks tend to require higher voltage than the Twist puts out to get the full effect, although your mileage may vary: Dual Coil Vs. Single Coil Cartomizers - YouTube

I don't know if this will help (I use single coil, so I don't know): How to fill a DCT tank - YouTube

Thanks for the quick replies--It's gone to a steady green now, so I'm good there. Also thanks for the utube link, I'll check it out. I have two Halo juices, Tribeca and Menthol ice. Assuming I'm smart enough to fill the tank without breaking something (big assumption), I'm guessing I need to stay with one to avoid cleaning the tank and changing the carto? Thanks again, gonna fire this up soon I'm hoping.

Cool! Just make sure you get the carto wet enough!

fire it up,,, and after your head stops spinning let us know how it goes :)

and yea usually people who vape diff flavors have several tanks ready to go.

Lol! No kidding! I'm sitting here with 4 tanks and a clearo switching back and forth. There have been times that I've just put the tanks on different batteries, so I don't have to keep screwing and unscrewing (nothing like 2-fisted vaping), but I only have 2 Twists and can't narrow it down to 2 flavors at the moment.

Well, I'm thinking I did something wrong. The first vid I saw showed filling a new carto, then putting it in a tank. My tank came with a carto in it, so I found a vid showing how to do that. The guy pushed the carto up in the tank, poured the juice in the tank (not carto), then fill the carto by sucking it in there--tank level drops. Anyway, first hit made me cough--I've seen different vids of what seems like giant amounts of vapor--this wasn't that. Tasts burnt, and after exhaling I could see smoke in the light above me--didn't dissapate like I would imagine vapor would. So I'm thinking I messed up somehow. Should I just toss this first carto? I have four new cartos, I guess I'll try again using the first vid I saw with the dude saturating the carto first, then putting it in the tank. Not a good start, but I'll keep trying. Oh, and I started at 4 volts.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the help--what I did was remove the 1st carto with halo tribecca (tobacco) and clean the tank and fill a new carto with halo menthol ice, which is the only other thing I have. This time I let it sit for 20 min. Much better result, dosen't taste burnt, can take a much bigger hit. Need more tanks!! Maybe check into a different type.

Just another video on how to fill a carto and fill a tank.

A couple of tips: Place a wooden tooth pick into the airhole to keep juice out of it while you prep the carto. Shake the carto down like you would a thermometer to get juice down into the polyfill faster.

I'd recommend switching from a dual coil carto to single coil cartos for a cooler vape and less drain on your battery's life. Same amount of vaper and possibly better flavor with the cooler vape. I recommend the 2.0 ohm 2 hole pre-punched cartos below.

For a tank recommendation, look at the IBTanked. A high quality and affordable pyrex tank that is highly customizable. Prices begin at below $20. These tanks are safe to use for all flavors, including the cinnamon and citris flavors that can melt plastic tanks.

Thanks, Bad. I'll try those cartos. Are DC's a new thing? Seems like they are not an improvement. Only been reading about this stuff 3 or four days--got to the point I had to order something or I'd never decide. Had a feeling I would have to try a few things before I got it right.
I actually do not know when they were introduced, perhaps 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. From what I can figure, the dual coil cartos were introduced about the same time as the DCT (dual coil tank) by Smoktech. If you bought the tank, it had the Smoktech dual cartos included. It seems that every tank manufacturer thereafter included dual coils with their tanks, also. Therefore, the name stuck DCT for the longer 45mm length tank. Much like Q-tips are synonomous for cotton tipped applicators and Band Aid for elastic bandages.

When I first started with cartotanks, I blindly replaced the cartos with more Smoktech dual coils because I thought that's what was supposed to be used. When I started to realize I didn't much care for the occassional burnt taste and harshness, I researched here and decided to try single coils. So glad that I did. A much better vape in my experience. Many people do love dual coils, but not me. Good idea that didn't pan out.

Another alternative cartomizer is the Ikenvape Platinum. I just started using these based on some recommendations from a couple of friends here on ECF in the last month or so. I think I like them even better than the Smokteks that I linked above. They provide a lot of clean flavor and seem to last perhaps one additional tankfull of juice compared to the Smokteks.
