Got the BB in the afternoon. Couple of odd things... 1st off its an amazingly beautiful device! I TOTALLY am pleased with the craftmanship and the over all design. For some reason, it just does not produce the Vapor/TH that my other devices do... SOmethings not right here I told myself... So get this... I was messing around with it trying it out with 3.7 and 6v... for some reason I decided to try a 10440 in there and to make it work, I used 2 little spacers from the CR2 charger... It hit AWESOME! I was like WTF... The 10440 was putting the 14500 to shame... how could this be... so I for the hell of it, put a spacer on a 14500 and tried it out... WOW what a difference... It was now vaping how I would expect it to... I don't know why this is how it is but it works VARY good now... Wonder whats up with that?

Any Thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

same thing I found. terrible at 3.7 but great at 6v..
I wish Id know the fix... almost sounds like a not so good ground connection.

Give the spacer thing a go... It really performs like it should... Maybe its the spring... Just checked and 2 CR2s stand several cent. taller then a 14500... Has no one addressed this issuse before??

I sent an email to chad to tell him to look at the thread, I'm sure he'll stop by when he's around a PC later :p *cough* don't use stacked cells in the BB/SB ^.^ Just wanted to throw that out there lol ;P

There isn't any coating goodness inside the base of the unit, is there? I'm heading out the door, I'll be back later to check in :)

Hey Rob, thanks for stopping in! No, the unit is perfect! I really think it may be the spring... Might need to me a few cent. higher... Im no expert but the fact that a 10440 with a couple spacers powers the unit properly and then the 14500 with a single spacer does the same it makes sence that the spring might be a tad to short...

Oh, btw, Im not a 6v vaper really and DONT plan on using the cr2s in there just had to try it out, for the hell of it ;). However, knowing that it worked well with other type batterys led me to the search of why is this not working well with the intended batteries. Im happyly vaping on it as I type and dont really mind using the spacer, however, its a little odd...

It actually is not odd at all. If the battery has a higher internal resistance than you add slight contact resistance it could inhibit the battery performance. By adding the spacer it you in effect reduced some of that conact resistance. Each unit is tested before leaving my house(of coarse :p) It may actually be that the spring was not square with the battery as well. There was a powder coat overspray issue with the first 200 units that were made, which I believe there may have been 20 that were effected. That earlier batch has been long gone and out the door, these newer one with a copper contact, do not have the powder coat overspray. It is also possible that some of the springs were a lighter lb rating than they are supposed to be. The springs are 3.9lb, if this is the case with yours, this would be why the spacer made such a great difference for you. Doots recieved one of the first batch that was effectd by the powder coat. There will be some powdercoating at the top of the lower shell, the important part is the bottom 1/4 inch where the spring makes it contact. To the OP, could you stretch the spring a bit and let me know if it performs the same as it does with spacer. Sorry for rambling I think I have had about a pot of coffee already :)

I think that may have done the trick... I'll report back after several puffs... I was going to stretch it prior, however, I did not want to jack with the unit. So I waited till you gave me the green light lol
LOL not much you can do to hurt it down there, the spring is only a friction fit in the unit :)

between bottom and spring, i did it today with my SB, because i thought why the GGTS vapes a bit more opposed to the SB with same battery and atomizer.

i used 2 coins ( european 1cents ) on the bottom, put the spring back in and the SB is performing on par with the GGTS.

a user of a german board brought it to my attention a few months ago, mentioning this thread and i didn't test it because i haven't a GG at the time.

the SB spring has a resistance of 0.3 ohm, the coins/spacer shortens the spring more than from pushing it together from screwing the SB together alone. imho this is really an improvement worth mentioning from time to time. ;)

Just a suggestion. I have a model from another manufacturer which seems to have the same type of connectivity issue. Putting Noalox (aluminum ant-oxidization compound) on the spring and battery made a huge difference in performance. This may be a work around for someone who has this stuff on hand but no spacers.
