OP is using silica wick, probably the stuff they sent with the AGA.

I imagine there's not enough wicking going on, or the coil might not be adjusted correctly... If I were going to use the silica with my AGA (I wouldn't, but let's pretend), I would have at least 4, maybe 6 strands in the tank and running all the way to the bottom of it. I would probably set up a horizontal coil using the negative post (not the screw), and again, I would try and fill all of the available holes with the silica wick, because it isn't really good at wicking in the first place. That's why everyone is switching to SS and other wicking systems.

I've had silica wick type clearos in the past that just tasted nasty right from the start, and no amount of fixing would smooth it out. Early Vision Extermes were noted for it, and I've had it happen with CE2s as well. Generally, I found that it was one of two things. Manufacturing residue being present in the unit, or the coil being wrapped too tight and choking the wick. To remedy the first, it's why many CE2 users take everything apart, and rinse out and dry burn it before filling it and vaping it the first time. For the second, sometimes you can use a small pin and adjust the coils by using a small pin and spread them out and loosen them up a tad. But usually, once a wick is burnt, it's burnt, and there's no un burning it.

Your LT might be pumping out more than the 4v you have it set at, depending on which version you have. Try it a 3v and work your way up.

edit: Another thing could be the new wire you are tasting. I dry burn new coils a few times and then add juice to the coil and burn it off before assembling any atty. this helps get it seasoned much quicker.
