If you were using an atty from the eGo kit and it was stainless, it was probably a low-resistance atty and I suspect they might sometimes fail faster. I know you'd need to make sure and keep them wet always. If I'm not mistaken, PS only sells true Joye stuff, or at least the standard 510s. I'm almost positive the atties with your eGo would be Joye. I hate it, but sometimes they go in 6 days easily. You just never know.

Yes, there was one stainless atty in the kit, the other black. The SS one is the one that quit working. PS did get back to me today and said that their attys are, in fact, the true Joyes attys. I thought so, but I wanted to check for sure. Thx for telling me, here I was vaping on a LR atty and didn't even know it, LOL. Thanks bear.

PS 510 atties are authentic Joye brand. But not every atty is created equal.

You will find that, regardless of the manufacturer, bad atties will fail within days but the ones that last you at least two weeks are good atties and will end up lasting for a couple of months.

When I started vaping on 3/26/10, I ordered 1 Joye510 starter kit (cignot), and instead of buying extra supplies, i just bought another starter kit. Here it is 4 months from the day I bought them, and only one atty has failed so far, so I feel pretty good about that:).

I thought you were probably using the LR atty. They're sooo good on the eGo, but you have to be really careful with them (my opinion), just like if you were using a standard atty on high voltage.

I'm having bad luck w/my new Puresmoker eGo stater kit. First the atty goes, now only a few days after I get it, one of the batteries goes. Does anyone know if they phased out the sale of eGos, or do they plan on re-stocking them? If not, I wonder if they will support their product (my purchase)? I've never done business with Puresmoker until now. Do they stand behind their product sales with the proper support, or will I have to go through a lot of trouble sending it to the manufacturer? The atty is no problem -- I can live w/that since I find out it was a short-life (should I say disposable?) LR atty.

I eMailed their contact who hasn't gotten back to me yet, but I am sure she will. It was only a couple of hours ago that I contacted.

So does anyone know about Puresmoker? Are they a reliable company to do business with? Please and thank you.

PS has an awesome customer service. I'm sure Casey will take care of you.

Oh, awesome, that's certainly a relief to hear. I actually did get a reply a few minutes ago, but no solution yet. I will be sure to let everyone know. Thanks for the encouragement about PS, makes me feel a lot better now. Actually I'm still holding out for the Pridigy 3 they sell, so we shall see. :)

They'll take care of you, but I'm not sure they have more eGo's. Surely they have some spare "parts."

Hi Bearscreek,
Correct on both counts. They did take care of me by sending me a new charger and a new battery. There were no stainless steel "spare parts", so they will send a red which I shall be happy to receive -- no prob there.

The problem was an almost DOA battery to begin with, but then when I put it on to charge, the charger shorted out and fried itself. Peee-uuuuu, what a nasty electrical fire stink -- ran and yanked the cord out of the outlet.

Casey at PS has sent me replacements for both batt & chgr. She was very sweet, sympathetic and professional in our eMails back and forth. I am really impressed with Puresmoker's quick and professional customer support in resolving this matter. Also, I really like their Bananica eJuice.

That's great. Yeah, I was afraid it might be hard to replace your battery, since they're not supposed to carry them any more. I didn't realize your problem even involved the charger, though (maybe I missed it if you said it). I'm glad they got you fixed up. A few weeks ago, I had realized that I really hadn't used my 2nd battery yet (because I just got this for little short trips to the store or whatever), so I got it out and used it a bit just to make sure it was good.

Well, remember how my atty blew on day 6, then my battery went on day 11? Well then, on day 12, I was at my computer in the dining room, and I smelled this really strong electrical fire smoke kind of odor. I ran into the kitchen to see if I had left a burner on or something (which I never do), and there was my charger frying away. I yanked the cord out of the outlet. I told you I was having bad luck with this set, LOL. So now I'm kinda wondering if the bad charger was the reason of my first battery's demise:confused: I wonder if my good battery will also go soon since I also charged it on the same charger. I'm not upset about it or anying. Doo doo just happens sometime.

Well, your good battery is probably okay if it worked and the charger didn't fry with it, but I can see how frustrating it would be. Hopefully you have all good parts now and can enjoy it. Like I said, I haven't used the eGo much, but I really like having it handy to grab for a quick trip or a quick plant watering outside or something like that. It's not as likely to fall out of my pocket if I bend over.

I've had an ego charger try to fry a battery on me before. I was sitting right next to it so I caught it getting overly hot early on. I unscrewed that battery, and rescrewed it into the charger and about 5 min later it was super hot again. I pulled the battery back out and adjusted the pin just a tad on the battery with a needle, popped it back on the charger and everything went fine. I guess it has something to do with the fact that the battery wasn't completely connecting to the charger right. After doing all of this, I looked at the atty I was using on the battery that I was having trouble with and saw that the battery connection on the atty came down about a couple of centimeters farther than the rest of the attys that I have. The atty had pushed the pin in my battery farther down than it should have been causing a crappy connection with the charger.

After all this junk happened, I now have the paranoid habit of placing my batteries on the charger, coming back 5-10 min later, and placing my hand over it. If it is only a tad warm like it should be, I feel safe to leave it unattended until it is fully charged.

I hoped I helped a bit for future battery charges.

What does disappoint me though, was that the kit was only 6 days old when one of my brand new attys blew. Waiiii. I don't know what's up with that:confused:, because I still have attys I used w/my Joye510 (from cignot) that are still going strong from clear back from March. But, yep, I sure love this new eGo. Sure improves the vaping disposition, LOL.

We took advantage of the great offer also for the hubby. Less than 48 hours of use out of the LR SS atty and DEAD. PS did tell me that they would take care of it next order. Sadly, I don't have a CLUE when that would be. So, it's not that I posted this to bash them in anyway I'm just saying, this seems to be more common than I would have expected. We got hubby a blue one. So far though, no other problems. Just wanted everyone to be aware in case there is even more that are dead really quick then PS can know about potential quality problems from their suppliers.

Wow! Now you guys are making me nervous. I LOVE my eGo. I put my batt on to charge a few minutes ago, now I'm all paranoid wanting to go check it.
Ok soooo really I just want to say, thanks for this information, this may be VERY helpful at sometime in the future. Ok, now I'm gonna go check that battery.

Things don't go wrong very often but it's good to make sure they don't happen to you. When it comes to batteries and safety, it's not a bad idea to be a little paranoid and overly cautious.

Thanks to everyone's input, I've really gotten an education and prevention plan out of this. I was leaving batts to charge overnight and when I was away from the home. Guess I won't be doing that anymore, Bearscreek. And I didn't know the battery could be adjusted either -- thanks for that Jauntwizzle. For sure, I won't be buying any LR attys until the tech on them improves. I've already stocked up on 510 attys, and I am real happy about their performance so far. Lookin 4ward to my replacement parts from PS in the mail maybe tomorrow.

After that, I'm going to order a spare charger -- never thought a charger would go, so never thought to order one when I was ordering all other pare parts.

I don't worry at all about them, but I also don't leave them charging overnight or when I'll be gone for a while. As far as those LR atties, I have a feeling they just aren't as durable in general as the standards are. The wires are smaller, so of course they blow faster. They certainly are good while they last, though.

I digress. I REALLY have no problems out of EM LR atty's they last me a LONG time. I've been using this same one for right at a month. No probs whatsoever. Same thing with the one before this one, lasted me about 3 months and it didn't die, I just haven't bothered to clean it thoroughly to get the "burned" taste out of it. Then that one may end up being just fine too. So, in 4 months I've not even KILLED one LR atty from eastmall. NO, I am NOT trying to advertise another vendor, I'm just trying to point out that I am not SURE this is a universal problem with LR atty's because these last me ???????? long over a month For Sure on one and at least 3 months on the other one that MAY or May not be ok once I decide to actually clean it.....it still heats up just fine though and vapes just tastes bad. So, my LR atty's are long lasting and I don't care for standard atty's because they are just a harder draw and just don't produce as well, IMHO. That's my :2c:.
