You HAVE to make sure the bridge is lined up or rotated with the opening on the cart.

I am not sure how familiar you are with the 510, but you do not have to line up the cart with the atty on any that I have had to prevent melting. I have used a dozen different attys with 30+ carts and never had this problem until I received this one atty that was just a tad out of spec. I just trashed the one I had and never looked back. :)

In my case, I made sure I did line up the cart. I even said so in my first post. Like I said, I'm not a nOOb to manuals and mods.

I'm inclined to agree with Cayman:

Mine seems to be a little taller than my others as well. I think my 801 and 901 adapters arrived at my box yesterday. I'm gonna abandon the 510 for one of the others and only use the 510 when I'm in a pinch or want to tailpipe it. ;)
Unfortunately, your issues will transfer to those atty's also if you plan on using the "Tall Bridge" Atty's with carts.

Hey Guys,

Not familar with the 510 attys as I dont own a 510... But I can tell ya the True DSE801 that PS sells is a "Tall Bridge" Atty and that the Bridge extends into a standard carts filler material ~1/4" . IMHO, This is the primary cause for so many folks having trouble with carts on the 801 atty. If the 510 atty's that Steve offers are also "Tall Bridge" versions, I'd expect the hassles with carts to transfer to that model too.:(

On a side note... Keep in mind that Steve has marketed the Prodigy as a "Dripping Friendly" device, Doesn't even offer carts on His website and has stated several times in this forum that folks should "Stop Using Carts" when they mention concerns about melting thier carts or burning up thier PS Tall Bridge atty's.

Tall Bridge atty's + Carts + High Voltage Devices = Dead Atty's and Melted carts. A Tall Bridge atty simply can't wick juice to the coil as fast as the Device wants to gulp it, So the coil gets too dry, overheats and breaks, Or... it overheats and melts the cart.

Yep. I should just drip it. My hands are always so damn shaky though I end up dripping down the inside of the atty tube wall. :( I think I'll try a 20gauge syringe with a cut/ground tip to make it easier to target the bridge.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!!

I finally received my Prodigy and ordered a new atty from Steve as well. Wasn't long before the cart melted!!! I tried aligning it, but that did not help either. I finally cut it own some but the affects how close the cart filler is, thus now does not work for me so it basically leaves me dripping. I would like to find a way to be able to use a cart with my Prodigy for ease of use while I am at work.... I have a couple of ideas.

Sorry to hear that Cayman. Only combo I've tried with good luck is the Eastmall low bridge 801 attys with standard carts. Wish I could offer more help dude. If your up for gettin an 801 adaptor, I can swear by the eastmall 801 attys when used with standard 801 carts. Just lost my 1st atty after about 7 weeks of rotating 4 of 'em.
Again, sorry I can't offer a better solution.:(

Hey Chad,

Dripping down the inside wall is about the same as hitting a bullseye on the bridge every attempt. The ceramic cylinder is designed to wick readily from the sides and bottom... really not that big of a deal as long as the dripping is occuring INSIDE the atty tube...;)

Yeah, that's a lot of voltage for a 510 atty.

Still you might wanna try the Shredded PTB cart mod. I've tried 'em all and this one wins hands down. Keeps the wick moist (to eliminate burning, melting), vapes like crazy, the carts hold a lot more liquid, and don't need topping off as much.

I use it on my 510 and 901 as shown, and use one and half tea bags for my 801.

The only way PTB works...

I think the values look right:

Batts: 3.26v, 3.25v
Tube & Threads: 6.51v (with button pushed)
Adapter: 6.51v (with button pushed)
Atty: 2.4Ω
Resistor: 0.7-0.8Ω

Maybe the 510 atty that came with the Prodigy's a bit too weak? It's resistance seems a little low. Maybe I should just get the 801 or 901 adapter. Those atty's have always seemed more "industrial" strength to me. I only got the 510 'cause I've got a few 510 atty's around here...

With your Atty at only 2.4 ohms of resistance it is gonna be running alot warmer then one at 3.2 ohms of resistance, as it will be pulling approx 2.08amps of current through it instead of 1.56amps of current at 5 volts.
