I really didn't want to have to ask any questions, I scoured the forums, did days of research, watched videos and read directions. But there wasn't an answer I could find, or I got overwhelmed with information.

I got my Joye Ego today, and think it's ok. There is a weird taste and smell to it though. Not a burning smell, just a weird smell. I had my friend smell it and she said it smelled like Christmas. No, I have no idea what that means either, but it's a definite "weird" smell. Is that normal for a new device? Is it the eGo or the juice? I didn't expect it to be like smoking, but I did expect more flavor. I got clove black, RY4 and Virgina blend from Liberty Flights, the same place I got my eGo. I guess I expected more flavor. Maybe I don't know what I'm doing?

I would appreciate any help and suggestions, thank you!

lol....being a dork is ok... :) Don't run the atty under hot water....just blow onto the end of the atty a few times...you will see some of the oil come out. Do this a few times...then attach it to your battery, drop 1 or 2 drops of juice onto it, attach your cart, and then take a few puffs/draws, but, dont inhale it....this will help prime your atty and burn off the remaining 'oil'. This should work for you. That is what I do with all of my new atty's and it works like a charm! HTH :)

No, I didn't! And believe me, I don't know what smelling like Christmas is either! Thank you though, I'll do that tonight and start fresh tomorrow, lucky I bought extras of everything!

I think that's probably the smell! The primer liquid that's on the atomizer when it's new. It tastes kind of bad, too, but I never noticed a Christmas smell from the atomizer (or from any of my eGo batteries).

You can try blowing out the primer liquid, but it doesn't always get it all out, in my experience. I've tried both ways...blowing it out and soaking the atty to thoroughly clean it. Cleaning it works the best, and hot water won't hurt the atomizer.

A quick way to clean the atty is to soak it in isopropyl alcohol for a while and then hot water (not boiling hot) for a while, and then flush out the excess water by blowing through it several times (unless you have the syringe and rubber cone kit from Walmart, which would be perfect to flush out the excess water). Then blow dry with a fan or blow dryer or dry overnight -- or do the dry burn, as explained in the highping method in the following link:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

When it's dry and ready to use, I drip 6 drops into the atty, then blow (not hard, just lightly to push the juice down all the way into the coil) through the bridge end about 3 times, and then add 3 more drops, blow once lightly, and vape.

You don't use a cartridge? Is that right? Sorry, I really am new to this and appreciate anyone taking time to help me with what seems like old news! Can you drip juice right on the atty and not use a cartridge at all? I washed my attys and am leaving them standing up overnight to dry.

Christmas smell different depending on who's house you're at. (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation pops into my mind.)

I can be lazy sometimes, so take this for what it's worth. The last couple attys I broke in was simply this:
Tap atty onto paper towel on my leg. Add extra juice. Toke it out. (Don't inhale 'til it stops tasting like Christmas.)

No, actually, I use cartomizers most of the time and drip just once in a while without using a cartridge. You can use an empty cartridge as a mouthpiece and drip into the atomizer, or you can use a drip tip and drip into the drip tip or take off the drip tip and drip into the atty (which I prefer rather than dripping into the drip tip..it drains quicker and the juice doesn't dry inside the drip tip and I don't get juice in my mouth).

When the atty is dry, drip 6 drops into the atty and blow a couple of times through the bridge end with a tissue at the other end. This pushes the liquid down into the bottom of the atty. Then drip 3 drops into the atty and vape. A few drags (about 5 to 10) later, you'll need to add 3 more drops.

With a cartomizer, I just fill it with about 30 drops when it's new, let it sit for about 24 hours, and vape it. It lasts for an hour of constant vaping (and much longer for those who don't keep it in their mouths all the time). When refilling a carto, I'll add about 12 to 18 drops, let it sit for about 24 hours, and then vape it.
